Blackwell is a city in Kay County, Oklahoma, United States, located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 177 and State Highway 11 along Interstate 35 (exit #222). Blackwell UK, also known as Blackwell's and Blackwell Group, is a British academic book retailer and library supply service owned by Waterstones. It was founded in 1879 by Benjamin Henry Blackwell, after whom the chain is named, on Broad Street, Oxford. The brand now has a chain of 18 shops, and an accounts and library supply service. It employs around 1000 staff in its divisions. The Broad Street branches, which include speciality music and art/poster shops, remained the only ones until expansion in the early 1990s, when at peak after taking over Heffers in Cambridge in 1999 and James Thin in Scotland in 2002, the company had more than 70 outlets. Roosevelt Island is an island in New York City's East River, within the borough of Manhattan. It lies between Manhattan Island to the west, and the borough of Queens, on Long Island, to the east. Running from the equivalent of East 46th to 85th Streets on Manhattan Island, it is about long, with a maximum width of , and a total area of . Together with Mill Rock, Roosevelt Island constitutes Manhattan's Census Tract 238, which has a land area of , and had a population of 11,722 as of the 2020 United States Census. Blackwell, Worcestershire
Blackwell is a village located in the North-East of Worcestershire and comes under the jurisdiction of Lickey and Blackwell Parish Council. Nearby large towns include Barnt Green and Bromsgrove. Worcester, England, Worcester and Birmingham are also influential. The village had a station on the Birmingham and Gloucester Railway, at the summit of the Lickey Incline, however this closed in 1965. Background The village has two churches, St Catherine's and the Methodist church (the latter having been bought by a glass company in the 21st Century). In 2003/4, St Catherine's had the extension of "The wheel" added to it where meetings are held, etc. The village has one shop that used to be a post office. Blackwell is a village in Derbyshire, England. The population of the civil parish at the 2011 census was 4,389. It is one of the four villages that make up the civil parish of Blackwell within the District of Bolsover - the other villages being Hilcote, Newton and Westhouses. The Parish Council meets monthly. A brief history of the Parish of Blackwell was published in 1994 (the centenary year of the formation of Blackwell Parish Council). It is 3½ miles north-east of Alfreton. William Foulke the Sheffield United, Chelsea, Bradford City and England goalkeeper lived in Blackwell before moving to Sheffield to sign for Sheffield United. Blackwell (historic House)
Blackwell is a large house in the English Lake District, designed in the Arts and Crafts style by Baillie Scott. It was built in 1898–1900, as a holiday home for Sir Edward Holt, a wealthy Manchester brewer. It is near the town of Bowness-on-Windermere with views looking over Windermere and across to the Coniston Fells. Blackwell has survived with almost all its original decorative features intact, and is listed Grade I as an outstanding example of British domestic architecture. The house is furnished with original furniture and objects from the period. The gardens were designed by Thomas Mawson in a series of terraces. Flowers and herbs border the terraces, which form sun traps on the south side of the house. The house has been open to visitors since 2001 and hosts regular exhibitions including work by living artists such as Edmund de Waal in 2005. Blackwell In The Peak
Blackwell is a village in the Derbyshire Dales local government district of Derbyshire, England, on the A6 main road between Bakewell and Buxton. It is sometimes referred to as "Blackwell-in-the-Peak" to distinguish it from Blackwell near Alfreton. It lies on the River Wye on the edge of the carboniferous limestone of the White Peak. Nearby is Blackwell Hall in the grounds of which have been found neolithic remains, including a flint resharpening flake for tranchet axes. There are also the remnants of a Romano-British field system, dating from around the year 400. The name is said to derive from the Norman ''Blacheuuelle'' or King's land.
