Blackwater Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Blackwater, Cooper County, Missouri. The district encompasses 12 contributing buildings in the central business district of Blackwater. Blackwater, Missouri
Blackwater is a city in northwest Cooper County, Missouri, United States located along the Blackwater River, from which it takes its name. The population was 162 at the 2010 census. Many parts of Blackwater's commercial and residential districts are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. History Blackwater was platted in 1887, although it had long functioned as a trading point. A post office called Blackwater has been in operation since 1873. In the law regulating historic districts in the United States, a contributing property or contributing resource is any building, object, or structure which adds to the historical integrity or architectural qualities that make the historic district significant. Government agencies, at the state, national, and local level in the United States, have differing definitions of what constitutes a contributing property but there are common characteristics.
