Blackthorn (Russian Band)
Blackthorn is a five-peace all-female Russian symphonic extreme metal band formed in 2004 in Moscow. As of 2017, they released three studio albums: ''Gossamer Witchcraft'' (2009), ''Codex Archaos'' (2011) and ''Witch Cult Ternion'' (2015). Band history Blackthorn were formed in 2004, by the Sakha-born singer Aina. Symphonic black metal is a subgenre of black metal that emerged in the 1990s and incorporates symphonic and orchestral elements. Notable symphonic black metal bands include Cradle Of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, and Carach Angren. Epica (band)
Epica is a Dutch symphonic metal band, founded by guitarist and vocalist Mark Jansen after his departure from After Forever. Formed as a symphonic metal band with gothic tendencies, later Epica have incorporated into their sound strong death metal influences. Starting from the third album, progressive metal influences have also become evident. In addition, the band often uses thrash metal and groove metal riffs, black metal passages (mostly in the drum technique), power metal moments and references to Arabic music. Some songs also have electronic shades, djent transitions and folk metal melodies derived from Middle Eastern, Chinese and Celtic traditions. A symphony is an extended musical composition in Western classical music, most often for orchestra. Metal Female Voices Fest
Metal Female Voices Fest was a heavy metal music festival dedicated to female vocalists, held annually in the Oktoberhallen in Wieze, Belgium from 2003 to 2016. It was organized by the ''Metal Organisation'', which later changed into "2 Wild 4 agency". The festival enables smaller and unknown bands within the female fronted genre to perform on a big stage beside bigger and more famous bands. Over the years, they gave away special awards or organized a warm-up which allowed bands to compete to perform on the festival for the next year. On 13 February 2017, it was announced that the Metal Female Voices Fest is put on indefinite hold. On 10 December 2018, it has been confirmed that a Japanese edition of MFVF will take place in Osaka and Tokyo in April 2019. In 2020, the official website of the Metal Female Voices Fest went dead. Lacrimosa (band)
Lacrimosa is a Swiss rock duo led by German Tilo Wolff, the main composer, and Finn Anne Nurmi. They are currently based in Switzerland, but originally from Germany. Originally counted among the bands of the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst genre, Lacrimosa are most associated with the gothic metal and symphonic metal genres. Their musical style mixes gothic rock and heavy metal, along with violin, trumpet, and more classical instruments, although their musical development throughout the years has also led to changes in instrumentation. Lacrimosa's lyrics are written almost exclusively in German, although since the 1995 album ''Inferno'' every album has featured one or two songs in English, generally written by Anne Nurmi.
