Blackened Sunrise EP
''Blackened Sunrise'' is the second extended play (EP) by English hard rock band Viking Skull. Recorded in Pennsylvania and California, it was released on 8 September 2007 by Filthy Note in the UK and DRP Records in the US. Background The songs included on ''Blackened Sunrise'' were recorded during the sessions for Viking Skull's second studio album, '' Chapter Two'', much of which took place in Philadelphia and were funded by drummer Jess Margera. Margera's CKY bandmate, guitarist Chad I Ginsburg, engineered and mixed the material, alongside fellow engineers Phil Nicolo, Cody Cochowski and Tommy Joyner. The EP was originally included for free within orders of ''Chapter Two'' placed through CD Baby in 2007. In addition to three songs not included on ''Chapter Two'' and an alternate mix of the title track, ''Blackened Sunrise'' also includes the music video for the title track, directed by Bam Margera. Viking Skull
Viking Skull are an English hard rock band originally from Corby, Northamptonshire. Formed in 2002, the band currently features vocalist and guitarist Roddy Stone, guitarists Frank Regan and Dom Wallace, bassist Kevin "Waldie" James and drummer Jess Margera. Founded by Stone, Regan and Waldie with guitarist Darren Smith and drummer Gordon Morrison, the group were initially intended as a semi-comedic support band for Raging Speedhorn, which featured some of Viking Skull's members. After releasing '' Chapter One'' and '' Born in Hell'', Viking Skull came closing to breaking up when Smith and Morrison left the band in 2006. Julian "Jules" Cooper and CKY drummer Jess Margera replaced the departed members and released '' Chapter Two'' in 2007. Phil Nicolo
The Butcher Bros. is an American music production team made up of brothers Phil and Joe Nicolo, originally based out of Philadelphia in the mid-to-late '80s. Together and individually, the brothers have produced albums for a wide variety of bands, including Urge Overkill, John Lennon, Bob Dylan, Amy Grant, Cypress Hill, Nine Inch Nails, Dog Eat Dog, Anthrax, Rett Smith and Luscious Jackson. While Joe Nicolo was the original "butcher" he later paired briefly with his brother as Butcher Bros. Joe continues today as Joe the Butcher. The brothers began their music careers as teenagers, fixing speakers and rewiring amplifiers at a local drive-in movie theater. After earning a B.S. in Science from Temple University, Phil returned to Philadelphia and the brothers founded the Studio 4 recording studio.
