Blackburn South, Victoria
Blackburn South is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 16 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Whitehorse local government area. Blackburn South recorded a population of 10,939 at the 2021 census. Blackburn South is bordered by Canterbury Road, Middleborough Road, Eley Road, and by an irregular line to the east of Blackburn Road. History Prior to development in the 1950s, Blackburn was primarily covered by orchards. Orchard Grove, an important access road through the suburb, was named so for this reason. Some original farm houses still stand in the area. During the 1960s and 1970s Blackburn South was a working-class neighbourhood before becoming a more middle-class neighbourhood in the early 1980s. Electoral District Of Box Hill
The electoral district of Box Hill is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, covering an area of in eastern Melbourne. It contains the suburbs of Box Hill, Box Hill North, Box Hill South, Mont Albert, Mont Albert North, most of Blackburn, Blackburn North, and Blackburn South, and parts of Balwyn North, Burwood, Burwood East, and Surrey Hills. It lies within the Eastern Metropolitan Region in the upper house, the Legislative Council. Electoral boundary changes The electoral district of Doncaster was split off from Box Hill and created in 1976 due to population growth. A redistribution of electorate boundaries in 1991 abolished the Balwyn electorate and incorporated most of it into Box Hill. Forest Hill College is a co-educational state secondary college in Burwood East, Victoria, Australia. The College Up until 2010, Forest Hill College was divided into 2 sub-schools, Junior (Year 7-9), and Senior (Year 10-12), with a courtyard for Year 7–9, a courtyard for Year 10, and another courtyard for VCE Year 11–12. __NOTOC__ The Wurundjeri Walk Trail is a shared use path for cyclists and pedestrians in the inner eastern suburbs of Blackburn South and Forest Hill in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The Eastern Freeway is an urban freeway in eastern Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. It is one of the most important freeways in terms of commuting to the city, connecting Alexandra Parade and Hoddle Street in the inner suburbs, with EastLink tollway farther east. Burwood Highway is a major transportation link with Melbourne, Melbourne's eastern suburbs.
