Black Warrant (novel)
''Black Warrant: Confessions of a Tihar Jailer'' is an Indian 2019 non-fiction book written by journalist Sunetra Choudhury and the former superintendent of Tihar Jail, Sunil Gupta. It traces some of the infamous criminals who served their time in the jail and were hanged. The book was published by Roli Books on 7 November 2019. The book shares controversial confessions of procedural lapses and corruption leading to a travesty of justice. It provides a step forward in a quest to understand the Indian prison system and provides fodder for further research into its corruption and injustices. Reception A review in '' The Financial Express'' called the book a "racy read" calling it "a must-read if they want a quick tutorial on the history of crime in Delhi in the past four decades." Sunetra Choudhury
Sunetra Choudhury is a journalist and anchor with The Hindustan Times. Her career started with The Indian Express in 1999 where she became the deputy chief reporter. In 2002, she began her TV career with Star News. Later, she moved to NDTV in 2003. Primarily located in New Delhi, she is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. She was born in Shillong, Meghalaya. She has now joined The Hindustan Times as national editor for political affairs since May 2019. English Language

Tihar Jail
Tihar Prisons, also called Tihar Jail and Tihar Ashram, is a prison complex in India and the largest complex of prisons in South Asia. Run by Department of Delhi Prisons, Government of Delhi, the prison contains nine central prisons, and is one of the three prison complexes in Delhi. The other two prison complexes are at Rohini and Mandoli with one and six central prisons respectively. Tihar prison complex is located in Janakpuri, approximately 3 km from Tihar village in West Delhi. The prison is styled as a correctional institution. Its main objective is to convert its inmates into ordinary members of society by providing them with useful skills, education, and respect for the law.
