DMG (rapper)
Harold Armstrong (born October 22, 1969) better known as DMG (short for DetriMental Ganxta), is an American rapper formally signed to Rap-a-Lot Records. Career DMG got his break when he met Scarface after a concert. Scarface got DMG a record deal with Rap-a-Lot, where he released his debut album in 1993 entitled ''Rigormortiz''. The album reached Billboard's R&B and Heatseekers charts. Two years later, DMG was invited to join Facemob, a rap group featuring rappers from different regions. Facemob's debut album, ''The Other Side of the Law'' was released in 1996 and peaked at 51 on the ''Billboard'' 200. After the Facemob, DMG continued making guest appearances on Rap-a-Lot albums throughout the late 90s and early 2000s. DMG returned to Rap-a-Lot in 2002, participating on Facemob's second album, ''Silence''. Gangsta Rap
Gangsta rap or gangster rap, initially called reality rap, emerged in the mid- to late 1980s as a controversial hip-hop subgenre whose lyrics assert the culture and values typical of American street gangs and street hustlers. Horrorcore
Horrorcore, also called horror hip hop, horror rap, death hip hop, or death rap, is a subgenre of hip hop music based on horror-themed and often darkly transgressive lyrical content and imagery. Its origins derived from certain hardcore hip hop and gangsta rap artists, such as the Geto Boys, which began to incorporate supernatural, occult, and psychological horror themes into their lyrics. Rap-A-Lot is a hip hop record label co-founded by James Prince and Cliff Blodget in 1986. Smoke-a-Lot Records is a subsidiary. Rap-A-Lot was first distributed by A&M Records with the release of Raheem's 1988 debut ''The Vigilante''. The label was distributed through the 1990s by EMI's Priority Records (1991–1994), Noo Trybe Records (1994-1998), and Virgin Records (1998–2002). ''Rigormortiz'' is the debut album by rapper DMG. It was released on June 1, 1993 through Rap-a-Lot and Priority Records and featured production from Mike Dean, N.O. Joe and DMG's mentor Scarface. The album made it to 40 on the R&B charts and 22 on the Heatseekers chart. "You Don't Hear Me Doe" was released as a single and had a promotional music video shot for it. Guests Many guest appear on the album, the first appearance is made by Bushwick Bill who hooks up with DMG on the "Intro". Cozy-K appears on the track "Prelude to a Murdah". Former Geto Boys member Big Mike assists DMG on the song "Rest In Peace". Jerold Dwight Ellis III (born October 18, 1974), better known by his stage name Yukmouth, is an American rapper from East Oakland, Oakland, California. He is the founder of The Regime, Smoke-A-Lot Records and Godzilla Entertainment. He is a member of Thug Lordz with C-Bo. Career Yukmouth is a member of the rap duo Luniz, along with Numskull.
