The 2013 Black Reel Awards, which annually recognize and celebrate the achievements of black people in feature, independent and television films, took place in Harlem, New York on February 7, 2013. '' Middle of Nowhere'' lead the pack with 9 nominations and ''Steel Magnolias'' lead the television nominees with 7. Over 25 categories were announced this year. Timothy Kevin Story (born March 13, 1970) is an African American film director. He is best known for '' Barbershop'' (2002), the '' Fantastic Four'' (2005) and the ''Ride Along'' franchise. Peter A. Ramsey (born December 23, 1962) is an American illustrator, storyboard artist, film director, screenwriter, and film producer. He is best known for directing DreamWorks Animation's ''Rise of the Guardians'' (2012), becoming the first African American to direct a major American animated film, and co-directing Sony Pictures Animation's ''Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse'' (2018).
