Black Cat Music
Black Cat Music is an American punk rock band from San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States. They were formed in the summer of 1998 by former members of bands such as The Criminals and the Receivers. The music combined elements of punk & rock and roll with dark, poetic lyrics. After its formation, Black Cat Music released an EP & first full-length record on Cheetah's records. Soon thereafter, Black Cat Music signed to Lookout! Records. The band played live shows up and down the west coast, and on several national tours. In 2004, the band released a video for the song "the Jet Trash", directed by Vincent Haycock. The Criminals (band)
The Criminals are an American punk rock band from Berkeley, California, originally existing from 1994–2000 and reforming in 2012. The lineup has consisted of lead vocalist Jesse Luscious and bass guitarist Mike Sexxx throughout the bands' existence. The Criminals have released two studio albums, ''Never Been Caught'' (1997) on Lookout! Records and '' Burning Flesh and Broken Fingers'' (1999) on Adeline Records. Following their initial breakup in 2000, members went on to form the Frisk. History Formation, early releases and touring (1994–1997) The Criminals formed in late 1994 with Jesse Luscious (vocals) and Mike Sexxx (bass), as well as vocalist Claudia Bitter, guitarist Freud RIP and drummer Ross the Boss. Lookout Records (stylized as Lookout! Records) was an independent record label, initially based in Laytonville, California and later in Berkeley, focusing on punk rock. Established in 1987, the label is best known for having released Operation Ivy’s only album, ''Energy'', and Green Day's first two albums, ''39/Smooth'' and ''Kerplunk''. Following the departure of co-founder Larry Livermore in 1997, the label departed from its "East Bay sound" and proved unable to match early success. In 2005 the label ran into financial difficulties after several high-profile artists rescinded the rights to their Lookout Records material. After a period of rapid contraction the label slowly expired, terminating operations and removing its music from online distribution channels early in 2012.
