Gustavo de Almeida Ribeiro (born 1972), better known by his stage name Black Alien, is a Brazilian rapper and composer. Since 1993, he has created music in several genres, collaborating with various artists, such as Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Forfun, Fernanda Abreu, Raimundos, Banda Black Rio, Pavilhão 9, Marcelinho da Lua, Dead Fish, Sabotage, among others. Career Gustavo de Almeida Ribeiro, popularly known as Black Alien, began his career as a rapper invited by fellow MC and musician Speedfreaks, at the time known as Cláudio Marcio. Before rapping, Gustavo was an amateur skateboarder and even competed in some semi-professional championships, but after pursuing a career in music, his life as a skater was set aside. Gustavo studied at the best schools in Niterói, being that he graduated in an Anglo-American school, therefore he speaks English fluently since the age of twelve. Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook, 31 July 1963), also known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, is an English musician, DJ, and record producer who helped to popularise the big beat genre in the 1990s. Lance Taylor (born on April 17, 1957), also known as Afrika Bambaataa (), is an American DJ, rapper, and producer from the South Bronx, New York. He is notable for releasing a series of genre-defining electro tracks in the 1980s that influenced the development of hip hop culture. Afrika Bambaataa is one of the originators of breakbeat DJing. Through his co-opting of the street gang the Black Spades into the music and culture-oriented Universal Zulu Nation, he has helped spread hip hop culture throughout the world. Ragga
Raggamuffin music, usually abbreviated as ragga, is a subgenre of dancehall and reggae music. The instrumentals primarily consist of electronic music. Similar to hip hop, sampling often serves a prominent role in raggamuffin music. Wayne Smith's " Under Mi Sleng Teng", produced by King Jammy in 1985 on a Casio MT-40 synthesizer, is generally recognized as the seminal ragga song. "Sleng Teng" boosted Jammy's popularity immensely, and other producers quickly released their own versions of the riddim, accompanied by dozens of different vocalists. ''Black Alien & Speed'' was an independent Brazilian Hip hop duo active between 1993 and 2001. Made up of singer Black Alien and the late producer/musician/rapper Speed, they started out using the name ''Speedfreaks'' and around 1998 became ''Black Alien & Speed''. Planet Hemp is a Brazilian rap rock musical group, known for starting the career of rappers Marcelo D2 and BNegão for its lyrics supporting the legality of cannabis.
