Bjørn Westh
Bjørn Westh (born 1944) is a Danish politician from the Social Democrats. He held several cabinet posts in the 1980s and 1990s. Early life and education Westh was born in Overlade Parish on 2 February 1944, and his parents are Hans Rømer Westh, a headmaster, and Ingrid Westh, a kindergarten teacher. In 1969 Westh received a degree in land inspection from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University. During his studies he was close to Liberal Centre, but when the party was closed Westh joined the Social Democrats. Career Following graduation Westh worked as an assistant land surveyor in a town planning company in Viborg from 1972 to 1981. He was first elected to the Danish Parliament for the Social Democrats representing Viborg County on 15 February 1977. He served as a temporary deputy between 1998 and 2004. Social Democrats (Denmark)
The Social Democrats ( da, Socialdemokraterne, ) is a social democratic political party in Denmark. A member of the Party of European Socialists (PES), the Social Democrats have 50 out of 179 members of the Danish parliament (following the latest Danish general election held in 2022), Folketing, and three out of fourteen MEPs elected from Denmark. Founded by Louis Pio in 1871, the party first entered the Folketing in the 1884 Danish Folketing election. By the early 20th century, it had become the party with the largest representation in the Folketing, a distinction it would hold for 77 years. It first formed a government after the 1924 Danish Folketing election under Thorvald Stauning, the longest-serving Danish Prime Minister of the 20th century. Overlade
Overlade is a village/town in western Himmerland, Denmark, with a population of 447 (1 January 2022), located 12 km north from Farsø, 16 km south of Løgstør, 3 kilometers from Limfjord and seven kilometers south of Ranum. The village is in the North Denmark Region and belongs to the Vesthimmerland Municipality. The city was founded by the monks of Vitskøl Abbey most likely the monks were from the Cistercian Order. The city has in recent history been a rich business with several factories, forges, bakeries, butcher sale, bicycle shop and much more. The city inn burned down in 1984.
