Bjørn Kristensen (footballer, Born 1963)
Bjørn Kristensen (born 10 October 1963) is a Danish former professional footballer and Venstre politician in Aarhus Municipality. During his active playing career, he most notably played for Danish club AGF and English club Newcastle United. Kristensen also made 20 appearances in which he scored two goals for the Denmark national team, and represented his country at the 1988 European Championship. Club career Born in Malling, Kristensen started his career with local top-flight team AGF in 1982. His talent was soon discovered, as he played 12 matches for the Danish under-21 national team from 1983 to 1986. While at AGF, Kristensen won the 1986 Danish championship as well as two Danish Cup trophies. Kristensen joined Newcastle United in March 1989, as a 25-year old, and became a popular figure amongst the fans for his versatility; he could play as a defender or midfielder. Malling, Denmark
Malling is a village in Denmark, located about south of Aarhus. It has a population of 6,194 (Jan 1, 2020). Geography Malling is situated only from the sea, surrounded by hills, swatches of farmland and patches of woodlands and meadows. The village is a railway town and the train station was one of the key elements in Malling's original growth from 1884 up until the 1970s. Malling has several green areas, with the space in front of the " SuperBrugsen" retailstore as the preferred place for general assemblies and recreation. The original town centre of Malling has been preserved, but previously important buildings such as the train station, have seen decades of decay. The most important tourist attraction is the old fortified church, where the old castle walls from 1100 AD can still be experienced. Preben Arentoft
Preben Arentoft (born 1 November 1942) is a Danish former football player who played in the midfielder position. He played professionally for a number of clubs, most notably Newcastle United and Blackburn Rovers. He played nine games for the Denmark national football team. Biography Born in Copenhagen, Arentoft started playing football with Copenhagen club Brønshøj Boldklub. He made his Danish national team debut in June 1965, and played four national team games while at Brønshøj. He moved abroad to play professionally for Scottish club Greenock Morton. Due to the Danish rules of amateurism, he was no longer eligible for the Danish national team. In 1969, Arentoft moved to England to play for Newcastle United. The Danish Superliga ( da, Superligaen, ) is the current Danish football championship tournament, and administered by the Danish Football Association. It is the highest football league in Denmark and is currently contested by 12 teams each year, with two teams relegated. History Founded in 1991, the Danish Superliga replaced the Danish 1st Division as the highest league of football in Denmark. From the start in 1991, 10 teams were participating. The opening Superliga season was played during the spring of 1991, with the ten teams playing each other twice for the championship title.
