Bjørn Erik Melland
Bjørn Erik Melland (born 29 September 1974) is a retired Norwegian football defender who notably played in Tippeligaen for Aalesund. He started his career in Sprova IL, and also played for Steinkjer before debuting in the Norwegian First Division, the second tier, with Byåsen. He went on to study physiotherapy in Ålesund and play for division colleagues Aalesund in 2001. In 2003 and 2005, he featured for Aalesund on the first tier, Tippeligaen. He was let go after the 2006 season, but after one season in Skarbøvik he was later hired as the Aalesund physio. Ahead of the 2017 season he was hired as Aalesund FK's director of sports. Eliteserien () is a Norwegian professional league for association football clubs. At the top of the Norwegian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Contested by 16 clubs, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Norwegian First Division. Byåsen is a large neighborhood area in the city of Trondheim in Trøndelag county, Norway. It constitutes a large part of the city in the borough of Midtbyen, Trondheim, Midtbyen. Byåsen Toppfotball is a Norwegian football club based in Trondheim and a section of the multi-sport organization Byåsen IL. Byåsen are currently playing in the 3. divisjon, the fourth tier of the Norwegian football league system, having last played in the 2. divisjon in 2019. History Byåsen was promoted to the 1. divisjon in 1995, and with Jan Halvor Halvorsen as coach they were positioned in the top of the second tier in the late 1990s. The closest Byåsen came to win promotion to the top division was in 1998 when they started the season with seven league-victories in a row and a goaldifference of 19-4.
