Bjarni Viðarsson
Bjarni Þór Viðarsson (born 5 March 1988) is an Icelandic former footballer who played as a midfielder. He played in England, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark during his career and was also a full international. Club career Bjarni Viðarsson joined Everton from Icelandic side FH Hafnarfjörður in the summer of 2004. He has spent the majority of his time with the academy side and the reserves, before training with the first team. He was an unused substitute in the 2–0 defeat to Newcastle United at St. James' Park in late February 2006. One month later he signed his first professional contract at Everton, signing a two-year deal. On 5 February 2007 he joined AFC Bournemouth on loan for a month. Viðarsson was deployed not in his natural center midfield position, by manager Kevin Bond, but on the left of midfield. Substitute (football)
In association football, a substitute is a player who is brought on to the pitch during a match in exchange for an existing player. Substitutions are generally made to replace a player who has become tired or injured, or who is performing poorly, or for tactical reasons (such as bringing a striker on in place of a defender). A player who has been substituted during a match takes no further part in the game, in games played under the standard International Football Association Board Laws of the Game. Substitutions were officially added to the Laws of the Game in 1958. Prior to this most games were played with no changes permitted at all, with occasional exceptions in cases of extreme injury or players not arriving to matches on time. ''Morgunblaðið'' (, ''The Morning Paper'') is an Icelandic newspaper. ''Morgunblaðið''s website, mbl.is, is the most popular website in Iceland. History ''Morgunblaðið'' was founded by Vilhjálmur Finsen and Ólafur Björnsson, brother of Iceland's first president. The first issue, only eight pages long, was published on 2 November 1913. On 25 February 1964, the paper first printed a caricature by Sigmúnd Jóhannsson which featured the first landings on Surtsey. He became a permanent cartoonist for ''Morgunblaðið'' in 1975 and worked there until October 2008. Viðar Halldórsson (born 23 May 1953) is an Icelandic former footballer who played as a defender for FH and the Iceland national team. After his retirement, he returned to his home club in an administrative role, currently serving as chairman. Playing career Club career Viðar spent his entire career with his hometown club FH, making his first-team debut in 1970 and playing in over 400 matches. He helped them achieve promotion to the Úrvalsdeild karla three different times, including two first-place finishes in the second-tier 1. deild karla in 1974 and 1984. Arnar Viðarsson
Arnar Þór Viðarsson (transliterated as Arnar Thor Vidarsson; born 15 March 1978) is an Icelandic football coach and a former player, his playing position was midfielder. He last played for Belgian Pro League side Cercle Brugge, where he was also employed as head coach. Currently he is the head coach of Iceland. Club career He started his career in FH, and moved to Belgium to play for Sporting Lokeren early in his career. The 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship began on 15 June 2009, and was the 17th UEFA European Under-21 Championship. This was the first tournament after the competition reverted to a two-year format, following the single-year 2006–07 competition, which allowed the change to odd-numbered years. Sweden hosted the final tournament in June 2009; therefore, their under-21 team qualified automatically. Players born on or after 1 January 1986 were eligible to play in this competition. 2007 UEFA European Under-21 Football Championship
The UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2007 were held from 10 June 2007 to 23 June 2007. It was the 16th staging of UEFA's European Under-21 Championship. Summary For the first time, a host nation was chosen ahead of the competition – the Netherlands, who were also the defending champions, were exempt from qualifying. The host nation was chosen on 15 December 2005. England, Italy, Portugal, Turkey, and Sweden also submitted bids. Of UEFA's 52 member countries, only the Faroe Islands did not compete in the qualification round for the tournament. That left 50 nations attempting to qualify for the seven remaining spots at the finals. This was the first time that the competition's final matches took place in an odd-numbered year.
