Bjarne Melgaard
Bjarne Melgaard (born 9 September 1967) is a Norwegians, Norwegian artist based in New York City. He has been described as "one of Norway's most important artists" and, following the 2014 publicity about his sculpture ''Chair'', "the most famous Norwegian artist since Edvard Munch." Life and work Melgaard was born in Sydney, Australia to Norwegian parents, and was raised in Oslo, Norway. In 2009, he moved permanently to New York. Melgaard studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts, Rijksakademie in Amsterdam from 1991 to 1992 and at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht from 1992 to 1993. Early in his career Melgaard created controversial installations referencing subversive subcultures such as sadomasochism, S&M and Heavy metal music, heavy metal music. Currently, his practice consists of an emphasis on expressionism, expressionistic paintings and drawings, often containing text. Chair, Table And Hat Stand
''Hatstand'', ''Table'' and ''Chair'' are a group of three erotic sculptures by British pop artist Allen Jones, created in 1969 and first exhibited in 1970. They have been described in retrospect as "emblematic of the spirit of the 1960s" and an "international sensation." At the time they were met with angry protests, particularly from feminists who saw them as an objectification of women. Description ''Hatstand, Table'' and ''Chair'' are three fibreglass sculptures of women transformed into items of furniture. Black metal is an extreme metal, extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. The Horse Hospital
The Horse Hospital is a Grade II listed not for profit, independent arts venue at Colonnade, Bloomsbury, central London. It has a curatorial focus on counter-cultural histories, sub-cultures and outsider as well as emerging artists. The Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art is a privately owned contemporary art gallery in Oslo in Norway. It was founded and opened to the public in 1993.
