Bizarre (TV Series)
''Bizarre'' is a Canadian sketch comedy television series that aired from 1980 to 1986. The show was hosted by John Byner, and produced by CTV at the CFTO's Glen Warren Studios in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, Ontario for first-run airing in Canada on CTV and in the United States on the Showtime premium cable network. Synopsis The series featured slapstick sketches, monologues, TV parodies, and performances by guest stand-up comics. Byner's interactions with members of the studio audience, or with show producer Bob Einstein (who often came in to halt a sketch midway through), provided an early example of removing the fourth wall. Much of the humour on the show was considered risqué during the original run of the series. The series utilized a rotating ensemble of supporting actors who backed Byner up in his sketches. Perry Rosemond, CM (born 15 November 1936) is a Canadian television writer, producer and director. Life and career Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Rosemond has created, produced, written and directed international television for over forty years. His efforts, notably ''Royal Canadian Air Farce'' and ''King of Kensington'', have been rewarded with the Order of Canada in his home country, and the George Foster Peabody Award in the United States. Most recently, he executive-produced ''When Jews Were Funny'', which was named ‘Best Canadian Feature Film’ at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. Mimi Kuzyk (born February 21, 1952) is a Canadian actress. Early life Kuzyk was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Fred and Kay Kuzyk, both of whom are Ukrainian immigrants, and received her early education at the Immaculate Heart of Mary School. She danced with the Rusalka Ukrainian dance group in Winnipeg for 12 years and briefly studied jazz dance at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. Barbara Hamilton (11 December 1926– 7 February 1996) was a Canadian actress in film, television, theatre and radio. After studies at Brockville Collegiate Institute, she attended the University of Toronto where her early performances were featured at the Hart House Theatre. Nonnie Griffin (20 October 1933 – 7 June 2019) was a Canadian film, stage, television and voice actress.
