Bivouac (foaled 4 November 2016) is a multiple Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. Background Bivouac is a home-bred stallion by Godolphin. He is out of the Australian sire Exceed And Excel and is a three-quarter brother to the 4-time Group 1 winner Guelph. Bivouac is out of the mare, Dazzler, who won her first two starts at Geelong and Flemington in an 11-start career. Racing career 2018/19: two-year-old season Bivouac began his racing career with a second placing at Randwick, followed by a third placing three months later at the same track. His third start in a race was at Warwick Farm Racecourse in the Listed Lonhro Plate. Starting at odds of $6.50 he won by a length under jockey Blake Shinn. Exceed And Excel (foaled 5 September 2000) is a retired multiple Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. After his racing career ended he has been successful as a breeding stallion, having sired over 150 Stakes winners. Background The colt was purchased at the 2002 Inglis Easter yearling sale by his trainer Tim Martin. Martin had previously never paid more than $30,000 for a horse but purchased him for A$375,000. At the time, he had no future owner in line for the horse. After what Martin described as a "scary" two weeks, he drew Sydney lawyer Alan Osburg into a 50% interest while the remaining equity was later taken by businessman Nick Moraitis. Racing career In Australia he only raced as a two-year-old and three-year-old. Kerrin McEvoy (born 28 October 1980) is an Australian jockey who is best known for winning three Melbourne Cups. In Europe, McEvoy rode several big winners for Godolphin including Rule of Law in the St Leger Stakes at Doncaster in 2004 and Ibn Khaldun in the Racing Post Trophy, also at Doncaster in 2007. Moonee Valley Racecourse, currently marketed as The Valley, is a horse-racing track in Moonee Ponds, Melbourne, Victoria Australia. James Hugh Bowman is an Australian thoroughbred racing jockey. Based in Sydney, Bowman has won the New South Wales Metropolitan Jockey Premiership four times (2008/09, 2011/12, 2014/15, 2016/17) and has ridden 100 Group 1 winners. He was the jockey for Australian champion mare Winx from 2014 through to her retirement in 2019.
