Bishopstown Hurlers
Bishopstown () is located in the civil parish of St. Finbar's, Barony of Cork, County Cork, Ireland. It is a southwestern suburb of Cork and is made-up of the townlands of Ballineaspigbeg and Ballineaspigmore (sometimes spelled Ballinaspigmore). It is near the town of Ballincollig, a satellite of Cork City, and is home to a number of schools and colleges, Though it is sometimes suggested that the name of the area derives from an early 18th-century bishop who built his country residence there, the name can be reputedly traced back further and found in sources dating to the 16th century. Education The biggest campus of the Munster Technological University (MTU) is located in the area. Brian Cuthbert
Brian Cuthbert (born 1975) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer. Born in Bishopstown, Cork, Cuthbert first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Cork minor team, before later lining out with the under-21 side. Although he never played in the senior grade, Cuthbert won an All-Ireland medal as captain of the minor team in 1993. At club level Cuthbert is a two-time championship medallist in the intermediate grade with Bishopstown as a hurler. In retirement from playing Cuthbert became involved in team management and coaching. He began his career with various Cork development squads and the Cork Institute of Technology freshers team, before two years as manager of the Cork minor football team. Jerry Buttimer (born 18 March 1967) is an Irish Fine Gael politician who has served as Cathaoirleach of Seanad Éireann since December 2022. He has served as a Senator for the Labour Panel since 2016, and previously from 2007 to 2011. Michael Bradley (born 17 November 1962) is a former Munster and Irish rugby union player. He is the current head coach of Italian United Rugby Championship side Zebre. Playing career He played primarily at scrum half and was capped 40 times for Ireland, 15 times as captain, scoring 40 points in the process. He made his debut in 1984 against Australia and was a member of the 1985 Triple Crown team. His final game for Ireland was in 1995 against the New Zealand national rugby union team. Bishopstown Stadium ( ga, Staid a' Baile an Easpaig) is an association football stadium located in Bishopstown on the western outskirts of Cork, Ireland. It is the home ground of Women's National League (WNL) club Cork City WFC. Formerly the home ground of League of Ireland club Cork City FC, it later became their training ground. Cork City FC's move to Bishopstown in 1993 proved costly and unpopular with fans, while the condition of the pitch quickly became "notorious". With Cork City on the verge of liquidation in November 1995, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) bought the stadium for £70,000 to be shared amongst the club's creditors. Highfield Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club based in Cork, Ireland, playing in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League. The club was founded in 1930 and was elevated to senior status in the province of Munster in 1953. Before moving to its present grounds at Woodleigh Park, the club was based in fields off Magazine Road between Highfield Avenue and Highfield West, where the team derived its name. The current ground is now located near a park called Highfield Lawn. The club currently fields teams in Division 1B of the All-Ireland League.
