''a.k.a.'' ''Contraceptive Revolution'' is a 1967 Japanese '' pink film'' directed by Masao Adachi for Kōji Wakamatsu's production studio. Synopsis The insane gynaecologist, Dr. Marukido Sadao ( Marquis de Sade), theorizes that a woman is unable to become pregnant if she is writhing in intense pain during intercourse. He sets about testing this new method of birth control by torturing women during sex. Masao Adachi
Masao Adachi (足立正生 ''Adachi Masao'', born May 13, 1939) is a Japanese screenwriter, director, actor and former Japanese Red Army member who was most active in the 1960s and 1970s. He was born in Fukuoka Prefecture. Career Best known for his writing collaborations with directors Kōji Wakamatsu and Nagisa Oshima, often under the pseudonyms "Izuru Deguchi" or "De Deguchi" (出口出), he also directed a number of his own films, usually dealing with left-wing political themes. Adachi was a prominent director in the Japanese New Wave film movement, producing pink films alongside documentaries. He stopped making films in the early 1970s and joined the Japanese Red Army. He resided in Lebanon for 28 years, lending assistance to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine until he was arrested and extradited back to Japan in 2000 due to his connections to the JRA. Kōji Wakamatsu
was a Japanese film director who directed such ''pinku eiga'' films as and . He also produced Nagisa Ōshima's controversial film ''In the Realm of the Senses'' (1976). He has been called "the most important director to emerge in the pink film genre," and one of "Japan's leading directors of the 1960s." His 2010 film, ''Caterpillar'', was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 60th Berlin International Film Festival. Early life Kōji Wakamatsu was born in Wakuya, Miyagi, Japan on 1 April 1936, from a poor family of rice farmers. Wakamatsu worked in several menial jobs, namely as a construction worker, before becoming a yakuza, as "a member of the Yasuma-gumi clan in the Shinjuku ward of Tokyo". After his criminal experience, he unsuccessfully enrolled in television before beginning his film career with Nikkatsu in 1963. Atsushi Yamatoya
was a Japanese film director, screenwriter and actor. His son is a fellow screenwriter and race horse owner . Life and career Yamatoya was born in Horonaicho, Mikasa, Hokkaido and raised in Tokyo. He graduated from the First Department of Literature at Waseda University. While a student, he belonged to the "Waseda Alumni Scenario Research Society" with Yōzō Tanaka and others, and produced documentary films. In 1962, he joined the assistant director department at Nikkatsu (8th period).
