''Birth, School, Work, Death'' is the second studio album by the alternative rock band the Godfathers, released in February 1988 by Epic. It peaked at number 80 in the UK Albums Chart in February 1988. ''Birth, School, Work, Death'' was reissued in 2011 by Cherry Red Records imprint label Lemon Recordings in an expanded edition. Critical reception Michael Sutton, writing for AllMusic, called the band's sound "tough," describing it as "brass-knuckled punches in the form of menacing, explosive riffs; venom-spewing, nihilistic vocals; body-slamming percussion." He added, "Yet the Godfathers never forget the importance of the hook." ''Trouser Press'' concurred, feeling that the album "seethes with the anger and aggression that seems to have all but gone out of non-hardcore British post-punk rock." Cold Turkey
"Cold turkey" refers to the abrupt cessation of a substance dependence and the resulting unpleasant experience, as opposed to gradually easing the process through reduction over time or by using replacement medication. Sudden withdrawal from drugs such as alcohol, benzodiazepines, and barbiturates can be extremely dangerous, leading to potentially fatal seizures. The No Fun EP
''The No Fun EP'' is an EP by American alternative rock duo Local H. It was released by Thick Records on May 27, 2003. The EP features six songs, three originals and three covers. The covers include The Godfathers' "Birth, School, Work, Death", the Ramones' "I Just Want Something To Do", and "Fuck Yeah, That Wide", which isn't a direct cover, but features lyrics based on Primal Scream's song "Kill All Hippies" from their album ''XTRMNTR''. "Birth, School, Work, Death" was previously released on a vinyl 7" split single with The Blank Theory. The three originals, "No Fun", "President Forever", and "Cooler Heads", all started out as demos recorded during the sessions for Local H's previous album, ''Here Comes the Zoo''. Local H
Local H is an American rock band originally formed by guitarist and vocalist Scott Lucas, bassist Matt Garcia, drummer Joe Daniels, and lead guitarist John Sparkman in Zion, Illinois in 1990. The members all met in high school in 1987 and founded Local H three years later. They are known for their unorthodox two-piece setup. After Sparkman's departure in 1991 and Garcia's departure in 1993, Local H signed a record contract with Island Records in 1994 as a duo, where they would go on to release three albums. They became best known for their radio hit "Bound for the Floor", a single from the 1996 album '' As Good as Dead'' which peaked at No. 5 on the US Alternative ''Billboard'' Chart. Supernaut ( sr-Cyrl, Супернаут) is a Serbian alternative rock band from Belgrade. History 1990s Having performed as DDT, formed in 1989 by former Šarlo Akrobata member Ivan Vdović "VD" (drums, rhythm machine), with Srđan Marković "Đile" (vocals) and Miodrag Stojanović "Čeza" (rhythm machine), the band changed the name to Supernaut, after Vdović's death in 1992. Bobby Valentino (born Robert James Beckingham, 22 June 1954) is a British musician, violinist and singer. Career Born in Chatham, Kent, he adopted the stage name Bobby Valentino in 1975. Kris Dollimore
Kris Dollimore (born 2 January 1966) is an English rock guitarist, who is best known for being a founding member of the Godfathers as well as a member of the Damned and Del Amitri. He also performs and records as a solo artist. Biography Kris Dollimore was born on the Isle of Sheppey in northern Kent, where he lived until the age of 19 when he moved to London. His first appearance on a recording was in 1984 as guitarist and lead vocalist on the sole album by the pub rock-ish Major Setback Band, which also included his older brother Ian on bass. The following year, at age 19, he co-formed alternative rock band the Godfathers, with whom he recorded three albums. After leaving the Godfathers in 1990, Dollimore participated in a demo recording session for Stiv Bators (Dead Boys, the Lords of the New Church).
