The Birmingham Stallions are a professional American football team based in Birmingham, Alabama. They are one of the eight members of the United States Football League (USFL). They currently play their home games at Protective Stadium and Legion Field, both located in Birmingham. They won the new USFL's inaugural championship, defeating the Philadelphia Stars 33-30 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, on July 3, 2022. Protective Stadium
Protective Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium owned and operated by the Birmingham-Jefferson Civic Center Authority in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, U.S. Its naming rights are provided by the Protective Life company, which will pay $1 million per year for 15 years. The stadium replaced Legion Field as the home of the UAB Blazers football program. The Blazers played their first game in the stadium on October 2, 2021, and lost to Liberty 36–12. In December 2021, the stadium hosted the Super 7, the football championship games of the Alabama High School Athletic Association, as part of a three-year rotation with Bryant–Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa and Jordan–Hare Stadium in Auburn that will run through at least 2032. Corey Jermaine Chamblin (born May 29, 1977) is an American football coach who is the defensive backs coach for the San Antonio Brahmas of the XFL and was previously the defensive backs coach for the Birmingham Stallions of the United States Football League (USFL). He is a former professional gridiron football defensive back and was signed by the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent in 1999. He played college football at Tennessee Tech. Bill Johnson (born June 23, 1955) is an American football coach and former defensive lineman who is the defensive line coach for the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL. Collegiate coaching career Johnson began his coaching career at Northwestern State in Louisiana as a graduate assistant before becoming a defensive ends/linebackers coach at the school. He then served as defensive line coach and also outside linebackers coach at McNeese State.
