Birmingham Barracudas
The Birmingham Barracudas were a Canadian football team that played the 1995 season in the Canadian Football League. The Barracudas were part of a failed attempt to expand the CFL into the United States. Franchise history In the beginning Insurance tycoon, former high school football coach and motivational speaker Art Williams was awarded a CFL expansion franchise in Birmingham. He wanted a nickname for the team that would "scare the spit out of people," and chose Barracudas. The Barracudas hired an experienced head coach in Jack Pardee, who had coached at the college level with the University of Houston and at the professional level with the WFL, USFL, and NFL. (Pardee is perhaps better known as one of the few six-man football players to have ever made it to the professional leagues; his knowledge of that wide-open game proved to serve him well in the similarly wide-open CFL.) Baltimore Stallions
The Baltimore Stallions (known officially as the "Baltimore Football Club" and previously as the "Baltimore CFL Colts" in its inaugural season) were a Canadian Football League team based in Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States, which played the 1994 and 1995 seasons. They were the most successful American team in the CFL's generally ill-fated southern expansion effort into the United States, and by at least one account, the winningest expansion team in North American professional sports history at the time. Montreal Alouettes
The Montreal Alouettes (Canadian French, French: Les Alouettes de Montréal) are a professional Canadian football team based in Montreal, Quebec. Founded in 1946, the team has folded and been revived twice. The Alouettes compete in the Canadian Football League East Division, East Division of the Canadian Football League (CFL) and last won the Grey Cup championship in 98th Grey Cup, 2010. Bernard Glieberman
Bernard "Bernie" Glieberman is an American real estate mogul and the president of Crosswinds Communities. Despite having made his fortune in real estate, Glieberman was perhaps best known for, with his son Lonie Glieberman, Lonie, making several unsuccessful and controversial forays into sports team ownership and management in the Canadian Football League. Glieberman's father died when Glieberman was 17 years old, and after this the young Bernard took over control of his family real estate holdings. Jimmy Klingler (born February 17, 1972) is a former American football quarterback who played one season with the Birmingham Barracudas of the Canadian Football League. He played college football at the University of Houston and attended Stratford High School in Houston, Texas. He was also a member of the Texas Terror of the Arena Football League. The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta.
