Birgir Örn Birgis
Birgir Örn Birgisson (23 September 1942 – 11 December 2017) was an Icelanders, Icelandic basketball player and basketball coach, coach. He was one of the inaugural players of the Iceland men's national basketball team, Icelandic national basketball team in 1959 and played a total of 33 national team games. He played twenty seasons in the Icelandic top-tier league with Ármann men's basketball, Ármann and helped the club to its first and only Úrvalsdeild karla (basketball), men's national championship in 1976. In 1968, Birgir was the first player to win the league's Úrvalsdeild karla Player of the Year, Player of the Year trophy, given by Dave Zinkoff. Dave Zinkoff
Dave Zinkoff (May 15, 1910 – December 25, 1985) was a sports public address announcer. He announced for the Philadelphia Phillies at Shibe Park in the 1940s and at the Philadelphia Convention Hall for the Philadelphia Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and college boxing and wrestling teams from the 1950s to the early 1980s. Zinkoff was also one of the rotating group of ring announcers for the monthly World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) events at the Spectrum. Zinkoff worked Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game at Hershey Sports Arena on March 2, 1962. Grindavík
Grindavík () is a fishing town in the Southern Peninsula district of Iceland, not far from Þorbjörn, a tuya (a type of flat-topped, steep-sided volcano). It is one of the few towns with a harbour on this coast. Most of the inhabitants work in the fishing industry. The Blue Lagoon, Grindavík's première attraction, is located from the town. Atli Guðjón Helgason (born 7 March 1967) is an Icelandic lawyer and former footballer who played three games for the Iceland national football team. Einar Örn Birgisson (27 September 1973 – 8 November 2000) was an Icelandic footballer and businessman. He played football for several years in Iceland and Norway, winning the Icelandic championship and Icelandic Cup in 1999 with KR. In November 2000, he was murdered by his business partner and former teammate Atli Helgason. Football career Einar played youth football for Valur. He later played senior football for Víkingur, Valur and Þróttur Reykjavík. He had his breakout season in 1997, finishing tied for third most goals in the Icelandic top-tier league. In 1998, he joined Lyn in Norway. After a good start with the club, he suffered an injury and missed most of the season. Einar Gunnar Bollason (born 6 November 1943) is an Icelandic former basketball player, coach and TV analyst. As a player, he won the Icelandic championship six times with KR. In 2001, he was named to the Icelandic basketball team of the 20th century and the coach of the 20th century by the Icelandic Basketball Association.
