Georges Gutelman (6 December 1938 – 5 November 2019) was a Belgian engineer and businessman who specialized in aviation. Biography Gutelman was born in 1938 to Polish immigrant parents. During World War II, his mother was murdered by the Nazis in Auschwitz, while he hid with his father in Belgium. Gutelman graduated from the University of Liège in 1963 and shortly thereafter started a travel agency and bought his first plane with his childhood friend, Jean Gol. In 1971, Gutelman founded the charter airline Trans European Airways. The Airbus A330 is a wide-body aircraft developed and produced by Airbus. Airbus conceived several derivatives of the A300, its first airliner in the mid-1970s. Then the company began development on the A330 twinjet in parallel with the A340 quadjet and launched both designs with their first orders in June 1987. The A330-300, the first variant, took its maiden flight in November 1992 and entered service with Air Inter in January 1994. The slightly shorter A330-200 variant followed in 1998.
