Bird Sim Coler
Bird Sim Coler (October 9, 1867 Urbana, Illinois – June 12, 1941 Brooklyn, New York) was an American stockbroker and politician from Brooklyn, New York (state), New York. He served as the first New York City Comptroller after the city's City of Greater New York, 1898 consolidation and was the Democratic nominee for Governor of New York in 1902 New York state election, 1902. He narrowly lost the election to Governor Benjamin Odell Jr. Biography Personal Coler was born on October 9, 1868, in Urbana, Illinois, the son of William N. Coler and wife. The elder Coler established a banking house after the Civil War and brought his family to Brooklyn. The younger Coler was educated at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. Coler and Emily Moore, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Moore, were married on October 1, 1888. He died on June 12, 1941, in Brooklyn, and she died on August 23, 1941, in the same hospital. New York City Comptroller
The Office of Comptroller of New York City, a position established in 1801, is the chief financial officer and chief auditor of the city agencies and their performance and spending. D-Cady Herrick (April 12, 1846 – February 21, 1926) was an American lawyer and politician. Name He was baptized Cady Herrick, but his father thought it better to add an initial hyphened "D-" to the name to avoid class-room jokes, like calling the boy "Katie." Thus the initial did not stand for any given name, and the first name should be pronounced "Dee-CAY-dee." The press took a long time to get aware of the rather elaborate construction of the name, and printed mostly D. Cady Herrick, the initial with a period, which led to the general belief that the initial stood indeed for an abbreviated first name. Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital
Coler Specialty Hospital is a chronic care facility on New York City's Roosevelt Island that provides services such as rehabilitation and specialty nursing. The hospital was formed in 1996 by the merger of two separate chronic care hospitals on Roosevelt Island. Goldwater Memorial Hospital, on the south end of the island, closed in 2013, while Bird S.
