"Bipp" (stylized in all caps) is a song by Scottish, LA-based producer SOPHIE. It was released as a single on 17 June 2013 as SOPHIE's first release on the label Numbers, backed by the B-side "Elle" (also in all caps). Upon release, the song became a critical success, appearing on numerous end-of-year single polls and bringing Sophie early attention. Reception "Bipp" received attention from music critics, topping ''XLR8R''s year-end list of tracks and placing 17 on ''Pitchfork'''s list. Sophie (musician)
Sophie Xeon (17 September 198630 January 2021), known mononymously as Sophie (stylised in all caps), was a Scottish music producer, songwriter, and DJ. Known for a brash and experimental take on pop music that helped pioneer the 2010s hyperpop microgenre, Sophie worked closely with artists from the PC Music label, including A.G. Cook and GFOTY, and produced for acts such as Charli XCX, Vince Staples, Kim Petras, Madonna, Let's Eat Grandma, and Namie Amuro. Sophie, who initially remained anonymous and later came out as a transgender woman, came to prominence with the breakthrough singles " Bipp" (2013) and "Lemonade" (2014), which were collected on the compilation album ''Product'' (2015). ''Product'' is the only compilation album by Scottish electronic music producer Sophie. It was released by Numbers on 27 November 2015. Four of the eight songs on ''Product'' have appeared on singles released by Numbers from 2013 to 2015. The album was made available in "silicon bubble cases", and its release coincides with the launch of a line of apparel and a "silicon product" resembling a sex toy. On 25 September 2019, Numbers announced that the album was being re-released in limited quantities in its original format of four vinyl singles, each in a PVC case. Numbers is a record label and club night promoter based in Glasgow, Scotland, run by Jack 'Jackmaster' Revill, Rob 'Bobby Cleaver' Mordue, Richard 'Simply Richard' Chater, brothers Calum 'Spencer' Morton and Neil 'Nelson' Morton and Adam 'Goodhand' Rodgers. Pitch shifting is a sound recording technique in which the original pitch of a sound is raised or lowered. Effects units that raise or lower pitch by a pre-designated musical interval ( transposition) are called pitch shifters. Flanging
Flanging is an audio effect produced by mixing two identical signals together, one signal delayed by a small and (usually) gradually changing period, usually smaller than 20 milliseconds. This produces a swept comb filter effect: peaks and notches are produced in the resulting frequency spectrum, related to each other in a linear harmonic series. Varying the time delay causes these to sweep up and down the frequency spectrum. A flanger is an effects unit that creates this effect. Part of the output signal is usually fed back to the input (a "re-circulating delay line"), producing a resonance effect which further enhances the intensity of the peaks and troughs. The phase of the fed-back signal is sometimes inverted, producing another variation on the flanger sound. TNGHT is a musical duo consisting of Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke and Canadian producer Lunice, formed in 2011. The duo released their self-titled debut EP to positive reviews in 2012.
