Biovision Hierarchy
The Biovision Hierarchy (BVH) character animation file format was developed by Biovision, a defunct motion capture services company, to give motion capture data to customers. This format largely displaced an earlier format Biovision providing skeleton hierarchy information as well as motion data. As of 2019, BVH is widely used and most 3D applications support importing and exporting files in this format. Examples of software using files in BVH format: *Lightwave 3D *3ds Max (version 9 or later) *Blender (software), Blender *Clara.io *Cobalt (CAD program), Cobalt *Daz Studio *Esenthel Engine *Lifeforms (software), Lifeforms *MakeHuman *Maya (software), Maya *Modo (software), Modo *Poser (software), Poser *Seamless3d Free open source modeller *Second Life / OpenSimulator, OpenSim *Avimator and its Qt port Qavimator *Cinema 4D, Maxon Cinema 4d *formZ *Milkshape 3D *Papervision, Papervision 3D *OpenQwaq *Webots *Xsens See also

Character Animation
Character animation is a specialized area of the animation process, which involves bringing animated s to life. The role of a character animator is analogous to that of a film or stage actor and character animators are often said to be "actors with a pencil" (or a mouse). Character animators breathe life in their characters, creating the illusion of thought, emotion and personality. Character animation is often distinguished from creature animation, which involves bringing photorealism, photorealistic animals and creatures to life. Origins Winsor McCay's ''Gertie the Dinosaur'' (1914) is often considered the first example of true character animation. Later, Otto Messmer imbued Felix the Cat with an instantly recognizable personality during the 1920s. In the 1930s, Walt Disney made character animation a particular focus of his animation studio, best showcased in productions such as ''Three Little Pigs (film), Three Little Pigs'' (1933), ''Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937 film ...

Seamless3d
Seamless3d is an open-source 3D modeling software available under the MIT license. The models for the virtual reality world Techuelife Island were created using Seamless3d technology. Techuelife Island is showcased by Blaxxun as an example of what is possible when using the interactive multi-user Blaxxun platform. Many Seamless3d tutorials have been translated to French. History In 2001 Seamless3d was made freely available online as a C++ library. The library centered on the creation of animated single mesh avatars for the Blaxxun 3d multi-user platform. It allowed the user to create smooth shaped triangle meshes and join different meshes together with tangent matching surfaces at the joining edges using a C++ compiler. By February 2003 Seamless3d had been transformed into a GUI based 3d modelling application with a file format designed around VRML format. This allowed Seamless3d files to be edited using VrmlPad utilising its syntax checking. In 2005 a script compiler was develo ...

List Of Motion And Gesture File Formats
The question of gesture and motion takes more and more importance with the development of gesture controllers, haptic systems, motion capture systems, etc., on the one hand, and with the need of allowing virtual reality systems to inter-communicate through control data. Motion and gesture file formats are widely used today in many applications that deal with motion and gesture signal. It is the case in domains like motion capture, character animation, gesture analysis, biomechanics, musical gesture interfaces, virtual surgery. Those formats are low-level formats, i.e. formats close to the signal produced by the capture system. Existing formats that encode gesture and motion BVA and BVH file formats BVH stands for Biovision Hierarchical Data, which was developed by a motion capture company called Biovision. The BVA format (also developed by Biovision) is an older format which was the precursor to BVH. The BVH format is mainly used as a standard representation of movements in the ...

Cinema 4D
Cinema 4D is a 3D software suite developed by the German company Maxon. Overview As of R21, only one version of Cinema 4D is available. It replaces all previous variants, including BodyPaint 3D, and includes all features of the past 'Studio' variant. With R21, all binaries were unified. There is no technical difference between commercial, educational, or demo versions. The difference is now only in licensing. 2014 saw the release of Cinema 4D Lite, which came packaged with Adobe After Effects Creative Cloud 2014. "Lite" acts as an introductory version, with many features withheld. This is part of a partnership between the two companies, where a Maxon-produced plug-in, called Cineware, allows any variant to create a seamless workflow with After Effects. The "Lite" variant is dependent on After Effects CC, needing the latter application running to launch, and is only sold as a package component included with AE CS through Adobe. Initially, Cinema 4D was developed for Amiga compu ...
