Binley, Coventry
Binley is a suburb in the east of Coventry, England. Binley evolved from a small mining village on the outskirts of Coventry to a large residential area composing private residences and council-owned properties. It is famous for the Binley Mega Chippy, which is located within Binley. History Binley colliery started producing coal in 1911 and was most productive during the 1950s, the entrance was on Willenhall Lane. It closed in 1963 and Herald Way industrial estate now occupies the site. Former pit worker cottages still remain along Willenhall Lane and St James Lane. Binley is flanked by Willenhall to the south (separated by the Coventry to Euston railway line), Stoke Aldermoor to the west (separated by Allard Way road), and the Warwickshire village of Binley Woods to the east, which almost joins Binley since the construction of the Eastern Bypass, a B&Q store and a T.G.I. Binley Woods
Binley Woods is a suburban village and civil parish in Warwickshire, England. The village lies marginally beyond the eastern outskirts of Coventry, outside the formal city boundaries. Binley Woods is within the Borough of Rugby, although the town of Rugby is around to the east. In the 2011 census the parish had a population of 2,665. The village is east of central Coventry, on the A428 road, east of the junction with the A46 road. The small village of Brandon lies to the east, with the larger village of Wolston a further to the south. History Binley Woods is a relatively modern village. Settlement began in the 1920s, when some of the estates of Coombe Abbey were sold off and people began to settle and build homes in the area, which was then known as Binley Common. Brian Binley
Brian Arthur Roland Binley (1 April 1942 – 25 December 2020) was a British Conservative Party politician. He was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Northampton South from 2005 to 2015. Early life Educated at Finedon Mulso Secondary Modern School on Wellingborough Road, (now a Junior School), in the town of Finedon in Northamptonshire, Brian Binley joined the Conservative Party in 1958. He was an organiser with the National Young Conservatives from 1965 to 1968. He was chairman of the Wellingborough-based BCC Marketing Services Ltd, the company he founded from 1988 to 2001, when it was liquidated by the company that had bought it in late 2001. Parliamentary career Binley was the Parliamentary Agent for the Wyre Forest Conservative Association during the 1997 general election campaign.
