Binau
Binau is a municipality in the district of Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. History There are signs of human settlement in the area dating from the Bronze Age. Binau is first mentioned in historical records in 769. The convent in Lorsch had many land holdings in Binau. The present-day palace stands on the site of an older one, which stood until the middle of the 18th century. Today it is used as a rest home. The church dates from the 14th century and was remodeled in 1926 and 1956. The nearby Burg Dauchstein was built in 1150 as a toll station for the Hohenstaufen The Hohenstaufen dynasty (, , ), also known as the Staufer, was a noble family of unclear origin that rose to rule the Duchy of Swabia from 1079, and to royal rule in the Holy Roman Empire during the Middle Ages from 1138 until 1254. Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis
Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis is a ''Landkreis'' (district) in the north of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from east clockwise) Main-Tauber-Kreis, Hohenlohe-Kreis, Heilbronn, Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Odenwaldkreis (Hesse) and Landkreis Miltenberg (Bavaria). The district is part of the Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region. History The district was created in 1973 by merging the previous districts Buchen and Mosbach. At first it was named ''Odenwaldkreis'', however to avoid confusion with the neighboring district in Hesse with the same name it was renamed in 1974 to be ''Neckar-Odenwald-Kreis''. Geography As the name already suggests the district is located in the Odenwald mountains, with the highest elevation at the Katzenbuckel (626 m) near Waldbrunn in the west of the district. Lorsch
Lorsch is a town in the Bergstraße district in Hessen, Germany, 60 km south of Frankfurt. Lorsch is well known for the Lorsch Abbey, which has been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
