Bimbo (song)
"Bimbo" is a popular song written in either 1948 or 1949 by Glenn O'Dell, but credited to Rodney (Rod) Morris or "Pee Wee" King. It was recorded in 1953 by Jim Reeves on Abbott 148. The song was later included in the 1965 album ''Up Through the Years'' on RCA Victor. Reeves' version became his second No. 1 song on the ''Billboard magazine'' country chart in January 1954, and helped pave the way to his eventual superstardom. Like his previous No. 1 hit "Mexican Joe," "Bimbo" was more of a novelty hit for Reeves; as such, "Bimbo" differed greatly from the smooth, Nashville sound ballads - " Four Walls" and "He'll Have to Go" - that he later recorded and made famous. Jim Reeves
James Travis Reeves (August 20, 1923July 31, 1964) was an American country and popular music singer-songwriter. With records charting from the 1950s to the 1980s, he became well known as a practitioner of the Nashville Sound. Known as "Gentleman Jim", his songs continued to chart for years after his death in a plane crash. He is a member of both the Country Music and Texas Country Music Halls of Fame. Biography Early life and education Reeves was born at home in Galloway, Texas, a small rural community near Carthage. He was the youngest of eight children born to Mary Beulah Adams Reeves (1884-1980) and Thomas Middleton Reeves (1882-1924). He was known as Travis during his childhood years. Ruby Wright (January 8, 1914 – March 9, 2004) was an American singer and songwriter. Biography Born in Anderson, Indiana, United States, she began singing with a trio of college girls in Lake Manitou, Indiana. Though not very successful in the United States, she had two hits in the United Kingdom. The first, "Bimbo", made number 7 in the UK Singles Chart in April 1954, whilst in May 1959, her cover version of " Three Stars" reached number 19. Her most popular recording was a Christmas single, written by Ruth Lyons, "Let's Light the Christmas Tree" which sold 250,000 copies in 1958. She also sang on the radio on WLW, and appeared on Lyons show, "50-50 Club", for twenty years. Wright was married to bandleader, Barney Rapp. She also sang in his orchestra. Triola
The triola ( listen) is a children's musical instrument, a hand-tuned single-tone wind harmonica. Triolas are manufactured by C. A. Seydel Söhne in Klingenthal, Germany. The triola is designed to teach children from the age of two and above how to read and play music. It works by blowing into the instrument and pressing the coloured keys. The coloured keys correspond with the coloured notes on the music.
