William Thomas Walsh (born 3 July 1963) is an Irish former boxing, boxer who is currently the Head Coach of USA Boxing. Raised in Wexford he competed in the Boxing at the 1988 Summer Olympics – Welterweight, men's welterweight event at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Appointed Head coach of the Irish High Performance Boxing programme in 2003 Walsh was at the helm of Irish boxing at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics, guiding them to seven medals, bookmarked by Katie Taylor's gold in London. He was headhunted by the Americans after the U.S. men went home without a medal for the first time in Games history In 2016 Walsh was awarded the International Boxing Association (amateur) Coach of the Year. Billy Walsh (curler)
William James Walsh (January 20, 1917 – October 7, 1971) was a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Walsh was a two time Canadian champion skip, having won the Brier for Manitoba in 1952 and 1956. Walsh was born in 1917 in Ontario and moved to Winnipeg as an infant. After graduating from high school, he worked at the Comptroller General's office for the Government of Manitoba, where he worked for the rest of his life. He served with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles during World War II. Walsh won his first of two national championships at the 1952 Macdonald Brier in Winnipeg. The Walsh rink, which included Al Langlois, Andy McWilliams and John Watson, went undefeated at the event, winning all ten matches. They clinched the event in their second last game, when they beat Alberta's Art Simpson, 9-7. Billy Walsh (footballer, Born 1921)
William Walsh (31 May 1921 – 28 July 2006) was an Irish footballer. Walsh played for several clubs, but most notably with Manchester City, for whom he made more than 100 appearances. As an international, Walsh represented four national teams: after playing for the England Schoolboys XI, he then became a dual Irish international, playing for both Ireland teams – the FAI XI and the IFA XI. In 1949, he was a member of the FAI XI that defeated England 2–0 at Goodison Park, becoming the first non-United Kingdom team to beat England at home. He then emigrated to New Zealand and also played in an unofficial game for their national team. In 1960 Walsh was the selector of the Auckland FA with son, Kevin, in the side. Walsh eventually moved to Australia and settled in Noosa, Queensland. In 2003, he and several other former Manchester City players returned for the last game at Maine Road. William Francis Walsh (1907–1992) was an Irish polo player. He is regarded as one of the three key figures in the post war revival of the sport of polo in the United Kingdom. He single-handedly restarted Ham Polo Club in 1946. Early life Like so many of the pioneers of polo in the western world Billy Walsh was an Irishman, born in County Kilkenny. In the 1920s he went to the USA where he gained his initial skills and a talent that was to take him to 5-goals by 1928. Billy Walsh (born October 7, 1972) is a former American soccer player and coach. Walsh played high school soccer at Chatham High School. In 1999, he was named by ''The Star-Ledger'' as one of the top ten New Jersey high school soccer players of the 1990s. Walsh played college soccer at the University of Virginia and Rutgers. In 1996, he was the only collegian on the U.S. team that competed in the Atlanta Olympics. Walsh was drafted by the MetroStars of Major League Soccer in the second round of the 1998 MLS College Draft. He played four years for the club, mostly at defensive midfielder, and was named the team MVP in 1999. After the 2001 season, he was waived and spent 2002 with the Chicago Fire.
