Billy McConnell (motorcyclist)
Billy McConnell (born 24 December 1986) is an Australian motorcycle racer. He is signed for the OMG Racing team to ride their BMW S1000RR in the British National Superstock 1000 Championship, completing the team with Superbike riders Luke Mossey and Héctor Barberá. McConnell missed races at the start of the 2019 season due to illness. He won the 2014 British Supersport Champion aboard a Triumph Daytona 675 for Smiths Racing before stepping up with the Smiths Racing team to the British Superbike Championship aboard a BMW S1000RR. During 2017 he rode a Kawasaki ZX-10R in the British Superbike Championship, but was injured at the Thruxton round in August and was unable to compete in any further races. His place was taken for the last three races of the season in October at the Brands Hatch round by Kyle Ryde, who had parted company with his Pucetti Kawasaki Racing team in World Supersport due to poor performances. Donington Park
Donington Park is a motorsport circuit located near Castle Donington in Leicestershire, England. The circuit business is now owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision organisation, and the surrounding Donington Park Estate, still owned by the Wheatcroft family, is currently under lease by MotorSport Vision until 2038. It has a capacity of 120,000, and is also the venue of the Download Festival. Originally part of the Donington Hall estate, it was created as a racing circuit during the period between the First and Second World Wars when the German Silver Arrows were battling for the European Championship. 2008 Supersport World Championship Season
The 2008 Supersport World Championship was the tenth FIM Supersport World Championship season—the twelfth taking into account the two held under the name of Supersport World Series. The season started on 23 February at Losail and finished on 2 November at Portimão after 13 rounds. The championship supported the Superbike World Championship at every round with the exception of Salt Lake City. The season was marred by the death of Craig Jones as a result of injuries sustained in an accident at the Brands Hatch round. The TT Circuit Assen is a motorsport race track built in 1955 and located in Assen, Netherlands. 2008 British Superbike Championship Season
The 2008 British Superbike Championship season was scheduled to begin on 6 April 2008; however, snow at Brands Hatch forced the abandonment of the day's races, which were later rescheduled. The series was rescheduled to start on 20 April and end on 12 October 2008. Starting with this season the championship has a single tyre supplier. Pirelli beat Dunlop to sign a three-year deal. For the 2008 season the engine configuration regulations were changed in parallel with those of the World Superbike Championship, to permit the racing of 1200 cc V-twins against 1000 cc four-cylinder machines. Silverstone Circuit
Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Towcester, Silverstone and Whittlebury. It is the home of the British Grand Prix, which it first hosted as the 1948 British Grand Prix. The 1950 British Grand Prix at Silverstone was the first race in the newly created World Championship of Drivers. Cadwell Park is a motor racing circuit in Lincolnshire, England, south of Louth, owned and operated by MotorSport Vision, a business associated with former racing driver Jonathan Palmer. Croft Circuit is a motor racing circuit located near Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire, England. The tarmac circuit is long and is based on the lands of an airfield, but has long since moved on from being a basic airfield circuit. The circuit holds meetings of the British Touring Car Championship, British Rallycross and Pickup Truck Racing race series. Snetterton Circuit is a motor racing course in Norfolk, England, originally opened in 1953.
