William McCall (actor)
William McCall (May 19, 1870 – January 10, 1938), was an American film actor. He appeared in more than 190 films between 1918 and 1938. He was born in Delavan, Illinois, and died in Hollywood, California. McCall acted on stage before he began working in film for Vitagraph. During his early film activity he was credited as Billy McCall, and he performed primarily in comic roles in farces, including ''Huns and Hyphens'' (1918) and ''Frauds and Frenzies'' (1918). Later, as William McCall, he acted in serials and Westerns. He continued in films through the introduction of sound, ending his career in 1937. William McCall (politician)
William Victor "Big Bill" McCall (24 May 1908 – 19 August 1968) was an Australian politician and businessman. He was a member of the United Australia Party (UAP) and held the seat of Martin in the House of Representatives from 1934 to 1943. Early life McCall was born on 24 May 1908 in Chatswood, New South Wales. He was the second child born to Hilda Mary (née Bowman) and William James McCall; his father was a bank officer. McCall attended Sydney Grammar School, leaving in 1924 following his father's death. He subsequently entered business as a skin-trade and wool-buyer. Politics McCall was persuaded to enter politics by the difficulties businesses experienced during the Great Depression. In 1931, he attempted to gain pre-selection for the federal seat of Martin for the United Australia Party, losing to William Holman. He was selected the following year to contest a by-election for the safe Labor seat of East Sydney, losing to Lang Labor's Eddie Ward by only 173 votes ... William McCall (8 October 1899 – 22 March 1965) was a professional association footballer who played as a forward for Dumfries-based club Queen of the South in Scotland, and Blackburn Rovers, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton in England in the 1920s. Football career McCall was born in Maxwelltown, then a separate burgh from Dumfries across the River Nith. While a pupil at Glasgow Street School, he was the captain of the Scottish Schoolboys' team. He served in the Great War with the 5th Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers, and after the war returned to football, and the Maxwelltown Juniors (known locally as the "Fish Suppers"). Joining Queen of the South in 1919, the year of their formation, he played for Queen's as a forward during his stay at Palmerston. McCall made 24 appearances in season 1919–20 scoring 11 goals and ten appearances in season 1920–21 scoring three goals.
