Billy Kaunda
Billy Kaunda is a current member of parliament from Mzimba District. He went to parliament on an independent ticket in the 2009 Parliamentary and presidential elections. He once served in the Malawi Cabinet as Deputy Minister of Youth Development and Sports under the Bingu wa Mutharika Government. He was also in the previous Parliament (2004–2009) on the National Democratic Alliance ticket and also served as a Deputy Minister. He has set historical records by winning in two different constituencies as a Member of Parliament i.e. in Blantyre (2004–2009) and Mzimba Mzimba is a town in the Mzimba District of Malawi. Mzimba District
Mzimba is a district in the Northern Region of Malawi. The capital is Mzimba. The district covers an area of 10,430 km.² and has a population of 610,944. It is the largest district in Malawi. Geography The Viphya Mountains extend through the southern and eastern portion of the district. The Mzimba Plain occupies the central portion of the district, drained by the South Rukuru River and its tributaries. The western boundary of the district lies along the Malawi-Zambia border, where a low divide separates the basin of the South Rukuru from Zambia's Luangwa River basin. Bingu Wa Mutharika
Bingu wa Mutharika (; born Brightson Webster Ryson Thom; 24 February 1934 – 5 April 2012) was a Malawian politician and economist who was President of Malawi from May 2004 until his death in April 2012. He was also President of the Democratic Progressive Party, which he founded in February 2005; it obtained a majority in Malawi's parliament in the 2009 general election. During his two terms in office, he was noted for being the Chairperson of the African Union in 2010–2011, as well as for several domestic controversies. In 2009, he purchased a private presidential jet for $13.26 million. This was followed almost immediately by a nationwide fuel shortage, which was officially blamed on logistical problems but was more likely due to the hard currency shortage caused by the freezing of aid by the international community. Blantyre () is Malawi's centre of finance and commerce, and its second largest city, with an enumerated 800,264 inhabitants . The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) () is a centre-right to right-wing conservative Indian political alliance led by the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
