Billy Hogan
Billy Hogan (October 10, 1933 - June 6, 1994) was a singer and songwriter. He was born in Elkmont, AL. He recorded several singles for the Vena label in the 1950s. He is remembered for writing Ernie Ashworth's 1962 hit Each Moment. Elkmont is a town in Limestone County, Alabama, Limestone County, Alabama, United States, and is included in the Huntsville-Decatur Combined Statistical Area. As of the 2010 census, the population of the town was 434, down from its record high of 470 in 2000. History Elkmont began as a stop known as "Fort Hampton" along the newly-constructed Tennessee and Alabama Central Railroad in 1859. Vena Records was an American record label located in Madison, Alabama in the late 1950s. Three singles are thought to have been released by the label. Singles Marlon "Madman" Mitchell and the Rocketeers *"Bermuda Shorts" / "Ice Cold Baby" (1957) Both songs were written by Billy Hogan. Billy Hogan and The Twilighters *"Shake It Over Sputnik" / "I Don't Want Anything But Your Love" (1958) Both songs were written by Billy Hogan. The Sacred-Aires Quartet *"I Can't Be Satisfied" / "We're Sailing Along" (1960) Performed by The Sacred Aires Quartet, side one was written by Alton Delmore, probably the last song he wrote. Ernie Ashworth
Ernest Bert Ashworth (December 15, 1928 – March 2, 2009) was an American country music singer, broadcaster, and longtime Grand Ole Opry star. Signed to the Hickory label, he recorded two studio albums in his career and charted several singles on ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs, including the number one "Talk Back Trembling Lips" and seven other top ten hits. Biography Born in Huntsville, Alabama, United States, he began his career singing on Huntsville radio station WBHP. In 1950, he moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he worked for several radio stations and was signed by Wesley Rose as a songwriter for Acuff-Rose Music. Among the artists who recorded his songs between 1949 and 1955 were Jimmy Dickens, Carl Smith, Johnny Horton, and Paul Anka. Success as a recording artist eluded him, however, and in 1957 he returned to Huntsville and began working at the US Army's Redstone Arsenal, doing guided missile work.
