''Billy Elliot the Musical Live'' is a 2014 British filmed version of Elton John's coming-of-age stage musical ''Billy Elliot the Musical'' (2005), which in turn was based on the 2000 film ''Billy Elliot''. Stephen Daldry directed both the original film and the 2014 musical adaptation. Filmed on 28 September 2014 at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London's West End, ''Billy Elliot Live'' was broadcast live to cinemas in several European countries, followed by further worldwide screenings. North American screenings took place on 12, 15, and 18 November. Stephen Daldry
Stephen David Daldry CBE (born 2 May 1960) is an English director and producer of film, theatre, and television. He has won three Olivier Awards for his work in the West End and three Tony Awards for his work on Broadway. He has received three Academy Awards nominations for Best Director, for films ''Billy Elliot'' (2000), '' The Hours'' (2002), and ''The Reader'' (2008). Alan Mehdizadeh ( fa, الان مهدیزاده; born 4 September 1982) is a British-Iranian actor, appearing on stage and screen. He has recently played the role of Monk in Graham Moore's '' The Outfit''. Liam Mower
Liam Mower (born 30 May 1992 in Kingston upon Hull, England) is an English actor and dancer. Best known for his talent for ballet, he was one of the three boys who shared the lead role in the original London cast of ''Billy Elliot the Musical'' which earned a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, making him the youngest nominee and the youngest solo winner in the category at age of 13. "Electricity" is a song composed by English musician Elton John and Lee Hall for ''Billy Elliot the Musical''. Released on 11 July 2005, it became John's 63rd UK top-40 hit, peaking at number four on the UK Singles Chart, and is his most recent solo top-40 hit in the UK. The song was included as a bonus track on the UK re-issue of Elton's album '' Peachtree Road''. The Royal Ballet School is a British school of classical ballet training founded in 1926 by the Anglo-Irish ballerina and choreographer Ninette de Valois. UK Miners' Strike (1984–85)
The miners' strike of 1984–1985 was a major industrial action within the British coal industry in an attempt to prevent colliery closures. It was led by Arthur Scargill of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) against the National Coal Board (NCB), a government agency. Opposition to the strike was led by the Conservative government of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, who wanted to reduce the power of the trade unions. The NUM was divided over the action and many mineworkers, especially in the Midlands, worked through the dispute. Ann Emery (12 March 1930 – 28 September 2016) was a British actress. She was the half-sister of actor and comedian Dick Emery. Educated at Mrs Smith's School for Young Ladies and the Cone Ripman School, she excelled in tap dancing, which led to her first stage role as a Babe in ''Babes in the Wood'' at the King's Theatre, Hammersmith.
