William John Burns (born August 30, 1989) is an American former professional baseball center fielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals. Career Amateur Burns attended George Walton Comprehensive High School in Marietta, Georgia, and Mercer University. In 2011, he played collegiate summer baseball with the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League. Washington Nationals He was drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 32nd round of the 2011 Major League Baseball Draft, and started the 2013 season with the Potomac Nationals but was promoted to the Double-A Harrisburg Senators during the season. Burns hit .315/.425/.383 and stole 74 bases between the two levels. After the season, he was named the Nationals Minor League Player of the Year. William Burns (1907 – after 1931) was a footballer who played in the Football League for Stockport County and Stoke City. Career Burns was born in Durham and played for Crook Town before joining Stoke in 1930. William Burns (born 20 November 1998) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who last played as a forward for the St. George Illawarra Dragons in the National Rugby League (NRL). He previously played for the Penrith Panthers in the NRL. Background Burns was born in Parkes, New South Wales, Australia. He played his junior rugby league for Parkes Spacemen. Burns was educated at Red Bend Catholic College, Forbes and at McCarthy Catholic College, Emu Plains and represented the Australian Schoolboys rugby league team, 2016 Australian Schoolboys. He then signed with Penrith Panthers. Billy Sean Burns (born 13 June 1994) is a professional rugby union player who plays for Ulster and Ireland. His favoured position is fly-half. He is the younger brother of England rugby union team fly-half Freddie Burns.
