Billy Boles (politician)
Billy Boles (April 30, 1927 – August 16, 2008) was an American lawyer and politician. He served as a Democratic member of the Louisiana State Senate. Life and career Boles was born in Rayville, Louisiana. He attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Louisiana Tech University and Louisiana State University. In 1952, Boles was elected to the Louisiana State Senate, succeeding Ralph E. King Ralph Elijah King, Sr. (June 16, 1902 – December 2, 1974), was a physician from Winnsboro, Louisiana, who served three non-consecutive terms in the Louisiana State Senate The Louisiana State Senate (french: Sénat de Louisiane) is t .... Rayville is a town in and the parish seat of Richland Parish, Louisiana, Richland Parish in northeastern Louisiana, United States. The population, which is 69 percent African American, was 4,234 at the 2000 United States Census, 2000 census, but it had declined by nearly 13 percent in 2010 to 3,695. The City Hall, located next to the U.S. Post Office across from U.S. Highway 80, is named for former Rayville Mayor Joe Kalil (1922–1996). Monroe (historically french: Poste-du-Ouachita) is the eighth-largest city in the U.S. state of Louisiana, and parish seat of Ouachita Parish. With a 2020 census-tabulated population of 47,702, it is the principal city of the Monroe metropolitan statistical area, the second-largest metropolitan area in North Louisiana. The Louisiana State Senate (french: Sénat de Louisiane) is the upper house of the state legislature of Louisiana. All senators serve four-year terms and are assigned to multiple committees. Composition The Louisiana State Senate is composed of 39 senators elected from single-member districts from across the state of Louisiana by the electors thereof. Senators must be a qualified elector (registered voter), be at least eighteen years of age, be domiciled in their district for at least one year, and must have been a resident of the state for at least two years. The senate is the judge of its members' qualifications and elections. All candidates for a senate seat in a district run in a nonpartisan blanket primary and in a runoff if necessary.
