William Annis (13 May 1874 – 1938) was an English footballer, who played in the Football League for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Career Annis worked as a machinist before joining the club in August 1898 from Stafford Road (the town's railway works side), making his league debut on 14 March 1899 in a 2–0 win at Bury. He went on to make 147 appearances in total for Wolverhampton Wanderers, scoring one goal. William Crawford "Uncle Bill" Alvord (August 10, 1863 in St. Louis, Missouri – April 7, 1927 in St. Petersburg, Florida) was a professional baseball third baseman. He played all or part of five seasons in Major League Baseball between 1885 and 1893. Alvord made his major league debut in 1885, his first professional season, appearing in two games for the National League St. Louis Maroons, which had played the previous year in the short-lived Union Association.
