Billingshurst Football Club is a association football, football club based in Billingshurst, West Sussex, England. They are currently members of the and play at Jubilee Fields. History The club was established in 1891, and later joined the West Sussex Football League, West Sussex League. They won the Division Two title in 1972–73 and went on to win Division One the following season.2013–14 Handbook West Sussex League Following relegation the club won the Tony Kopp Cup and the Division Three North in 1979–80 and then Division Two North in 1982–83. Billingshurst is a village and civil parish in the Horsham District of West Sussex, England. The village lies on the A29 road (the Roman Stane Street) at its crossroads with the A272, south-west of Horsham and north-east of Pulborough. The civil parish has a land area of and at the 2001 Census had 2,677 households and a population of 6,531 people, which increased to 8,232 at the 2011 Census. Toponymy The village's name derives from Anglo-Saxon and means 'a wooded hill of Billa's people', most likely referring to the sandstone hillock that St Mary's Church is sited on in the historical centre of the village. 'Bill' is the head of a family, 'ing' means of the people, and 'hurst' means wooded hill. It is most likely that it was a small family settlement, not yet being a large community or a parish, headed by one 'Billa' – someone of unestablished origin, and not by a populous Saxon tribe. West Sussex is a county in South East England on the English Channel coast. West Sussex Football League
The West Sussex Football League is a football competition in England. It was formed in 1896. The League has eight divisions of which the highest, the Premier Division, sits at level 12 of the English football league system. It is a feeder to the Southern Combination League Division Two. Membership is not limited to clubs from West Sussex. Currently the league also includes teams from Surrey and Hampshire though these are from places that are close to the county boundaries.
