Bill Pearson (rugby League)
Bill Pearson is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1950s and 1960s. A Queensland interstate representative centre, he played club football in Ipswich, Brisbane and Bundaberg, usually at . In 1955 Pearson started playing for the Ipswich Rugby League's West End club. In 1957 he became a regular centre for the Queensland rugby league team's annual matches against New South Wales. Pearson moved to Brisbane, playing with the Northern Suburbs club. He played for the Maroons against Great Britain in 1958. The Rugby League Ipswich is a rugby league football competition based in Ipswich, Queensland. It is under the administration of the Queensland Rugby League through the South East Queensland Division, which also administers the Brisbane and Gold Coast competitions. Great Britain National Rugby League Team
The Great Britain national rugby league team represents Great Britain in rugby league. Administered by the Rugby Football League (RFL), the team is nicknamed The Lions. For most of the 20th century, the Great Britain team toured overseas, played against foreign touring teams and competed in the Rugby League World Cup, which they won three times: in 1954, 1960 and 1972. Since 1995, the RFL has sent separate home nations teams to the World Cup. Great Britain continued to compete as a Test playing nation both home and away. There have been over 200 rugby league footballers who have played for Queensland in State of Origin since its inception in 1980. All players who have been selected to debut for the Queensland in State of Origin matches have been assigned a number by the Queensland Rugby League. The Fortitude Valley Diehards, often referred to simply as Valleys, are an Australian semi-professional rugby league football club based in the Brisbane suburb of Fortitude Valley. The Brisbane Rugby League is a rugby league football competition in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was first held in 1922 and for every year until 1997. The competition was reinstated in 2001, known as the FOGS premiership under the Queensland Cup. The competition consists of Brisbane's top six rugby league clubs. Bulimba Cup
The Bulimba Cup was an Australian rugby league football competition contested by the Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba representative rugby league sides during the mid 20th century. In 1931, a team from Lismore, New South Wales participated. It was first contested in 1925 but was cancelled in 1972 due to waning public interest caused by a greater focus on Brisbane club football. The competition was normally played as a round-robin with each team playing each other twice. On the rare occasions when teams finished evenly at the conclusion of 6 games, a playoff was held to determine the winner. From 1969 onwards, a final was held. New South Wales Rugby League Team
The New South Wales rugby league team has represented the Australian state of New South Wales in rugby league football since the sport's beginnings there in 1907. Also known as the Blues due to their sky blue jerseys, the team competes in the annual State of Origin series. This annual event is a series of three games competing for the State of Origin shield. As of 2022, the team is coached by Brad Fittler and captained by James Tedesco.
