Bill Palatucci
William J. Palatucci (born 1958) is an American attorney and Republican National Committeeman. Palatucci was the White House Transition Coordinator and General Counsel for the 2016 presidential transition of Donald Trump until terminated on November 11, 2016. Palatucci has served as the Finance Chairman of the New Jersey Republican State Committee and acted as a senior advisor for the 2000 presidential campaign of George W. Bush. He has also worked for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush. He retains a close personal and professional association with Governor Chris Christie, serving as the Chairman of Christie's 2013 re-election campaign and Co-Chair of his 2010 and 2014 Inaugural Committees. 1985 New Jersey Gubernatorial Election
The 1985 New Jersey gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 1985. Incumbent Republican Governor Thomas Kean won a landslide re-election against the Democratic candidate, Essex County Executive Peter Shapiro. As of , Kean's is the largest margin in terms of percentage and raw votes in all modern New Jersey gubernatorial elections. Kean was the first Republican to be re-elected governor since 1949, and the first Republican to ever win two four-year terms. Primary elections were held on June 4. 1981 New Jersey Gubernatorial Election
The 1981 New Jersey gubernatorial election was held on November 3. Republican Speaker of the Assembly Thomas Kean narrowly defeated Democratic U.S. Representative James Florio with 49.46% of the vote following a recount of the ballots. The difference between the two was less than 2,000 votes out of more than 2 million cast. As of 2022, this remains the closest gubernatorial contest in New Jersey history and the last time a Republican won an open-seat contest for Governor in the state. Thomas Howard Kean ( ; born April 21, 1935) is an American businessman, academic administrator and politician. A member of the Republican Party, Kean served as the 48th governor of New Jersey from 1982 to 1990. Following his tenure as governor, Kean served as the president of Drew University for 15 years, retiring in 2005. In 2002, Kean was appointed by President George W. ''Crossfire'' is an American nightly current events debate television program that aired on CNN from June 25, 1982 to September 12, 2005 and again from September 9, 2013 to August 6, 2014. The format was designed to present and challenge the opinions of a politically liberal pundit and a conservative pundit.
