William McKay
Lt.-Colonel William McKay (1772 – 18 August 1832) is remembered for leading the Canada, Canadian Forces to victory at the Siege of Prairie du Chien during the War of 1812. After the war, he was appointed Indian Department, Superintendent of Indian Affairs at Drummond Island in what was then Upper Canada. Previous to the war, McKay was a noted fur trader who had travelled widely in Canada. He was a partner of the North West Company and a member of the Beaver Club at Montreal, Montreal, Quebec. He was a brother of Alexander MacKay (fur trader), Alexander McKay, who accompanied Alexander Mackenzie (explorer), Sir Alexander Mackenzie to the Pacific Ocean in 1793. William McKay (footballer)
William McKay, known as Willie, was a Scottish professional footballer who played as an inside forward. According to sources he commenced his career at Hearts. It is unclear when he joined Burnley, but it is reasonable to assume it was during the second half of 1888. He made his Burnley and English Football League debut on 3 November 1888. The occasion was the visit of Blackburn Rovers to Turf Moor, the home of Burnley. He scored Burnley' only goal in a heavy 7-1 defeat. He played 14 of Burnley' 22 League matches top-scoring with seven goals. He played in five of Burnley' seven victories in the 1888 - 1889 season, scoring in two of those victories. William McKay (politician)
William MacKay (September 11, 1847 – November 8, 1915) was a physician and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Cape Breton County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1886 to 1890 and from 1894 to 1897 as a Conservative member and sat for Cape Breton division in the Senate of Canada from 1912 to 1915. Biography He was born in Earltown, Nova Scotia, the son of John MacKay, a Scottish immigrant. He was educated in Earlton, Pictou and New York City. In 1875, he married Catherine Campbell Sutherland. He was president of the Cape Breton Medical Society and served on the Board of Health. Bill McKay (footballer, Born 1906)
William McKay (24 August 1906 – June 1977) was a Scottish footballer who played for Bolton Wanderers and Manchester United in the 1930s. He also played for East Stirlingshire, Hamilton Academical and Stalybridge Celtic. He helped Manchester United to win promotion out of the Football League Second Division in 1935–36 (as champions) and 1937–38. Career McKay began his career with Shotts Battlefield, and played in the Scottish Football League for East Stirlingshire and Hamilton Academical, before moving down to England to play for Bolton Wanderers in December 1929. Bolton were a struggling First Division club, finishing 15th in 1929–30, 14th in 1930–31, and 17th in 1931–32, before being relegated in 21st-place in 1932–33. The "Trotters" finished one place and one point outside the Second Division promotion places in 1933–34. Bill McKay (rugby Player)
James William McKay (12 July 1921 – 15 October 1997) was an Irish rugby union player who played for Ireland, the British Lions and the Barbarians during the 1940s and 1950s. Early life McKay served during the Second World War, including with the Chindits unit. He studied at Coleraine Academy and then the Queen's University, Belfast and played rugby for Queen's University RFC. Rugby career McKay made his first appearance for Ireland opening match of the 1947 Five Nations Championship against France. He played in every one of Ireland's matches during the Championship, a feat which he repeated in Ireland's Grand Slam championship win in 1948 and their championship win and Triple Crown in 1949. He did likewise in 1950 and was selected for the British Lions team for their tour to New Zealand and Australia. Billy Mckay
William Robert Mckay (born 22 October 1988) is a professional footballer who plays as a striker for Scottish Championship club Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He has represented the Northern Ireland national team. Mckay began his career with Leicester City, but was unable to break into the first team, spending some time on loan with Hinckley United. Released by Leicester in 2009, Mckay played for Northampton Town before joining Inverness Caledonian Thistle in Scotland in 2011. After scoring 62 goals for Inverness in three-and-a-half seasons, Mckay was signed by Wigan Athletic in January 2015. William Cameron McKay (1824–1893) was a scout in the Snake War and Modoc War, a Captain in the U.S. Army, a member of the Warm Springs Scouts, and a physician and surgeon. William Cameron McKay was born at Fort Astoria, Fort George on May 18, 1824, what is now Astoria, Oregon, Astoria, Clatsop County, Oregon.
