Bill Grant (curler)
William Alexander Grant (June 16, 1882 – April 16, 1942) was a Canadian curler. He was the lead (curling), lead of the 1928 and 1929 Brier Champion teams (skipped by Gordon Hudson (curler), Gordon Hudson), representing Manitoba. Grant was a 1975 inductee to the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame. He died suddenly in 1942 while attending a curling meeting at the Fort Rouge Curling Club. Grant was married twice and had two children with his second wife Doris, Thomas Alexander Grant (1928-2002) and Barbara Longworth nee:Grant (1931-2020). Bill Grant (Gaelic Footballer)
William Grant (26 April 1891 – 8 August 1955) was an Irish Gaelic footballer. His championship career at senior level with the Tipperary county team spanned eleven years from 1915 to 1926. Grant made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-four when he was selected for the Tipperary senior team. He made his debut during the 1915 championship. The highlight of his inter-county career came in 1920 when he won an All-Ireland medal. Grant also won three Munster medals. Bill Grant and Delia Bell were a bluegrass music duo from Oklahoma. Emmylou Harris has said of Delia Bell: "If Hank Williams and Kitty Wells had married and had a daughter, she would have sounded like Delia Bell." Grant was recognized as "Ambassador of Bluegrass Music" by three Oklahoma governors. Biography Early career Delia Bell was born Francis Leona Nowell on April 16, 1935 in Bonham, Texas. Bell moved to Hugo as a child. She started playing music with her sisters and brother as a child, and began singing in her teens. She married Bobby Bell in 1959. Bill Grant was born Billy Joe Grant on May 9, 1930, a Choctaw tribal member, and grew up on a ranch near Hugo, Oklahoma. Inspired by the music of Bill Monroe, he took up mandolin. In 1959, Bell began singing with Bobby's friend Bill Grant. Bell accompanied herself on guitar, and Bill Grant played mandolin, and Bell sang tenor to Grant's lead. William Grant (born 14 August 1951) is a Scottish Conservative Party politician who was the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock UK Parliamentary constituency from June 2017 to November 2019. Early life A miner's son, Grant was raised in Rankinston in Doon Valley, East Ayrshire, and educated at Littlemill Primary in northern Rankinston and Cumnock Academy. After his education, Grant moved to Ayr and worked in the fire brigade for 31 years, retiring as a deputy commander in the Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Service. He served as a justice of the peace for ten years on Ayr District Court.
