Bill Davies (rugby League)
Bill Davies (birth unknown – death unknown) was a Welsh rugby union and rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s. He played at representative level for Wales, and at club level for Huddersfield, as a , or , i.e. number 1, 3 or 4, or 6. Davies started his career as a rugby union player at Neath RFC. In 1939, he switched codes from rugby union to rugby league when he joined Huddersfield. Davies played in Huddersfield's 4-13 defeat by Wigan in the Championship Final during the 1945–46 season at Maine Road, Manchester on Saturday 18 May 1946. In the first full season after the war, a new record transfer fee of £1,650 was set when Dewsbury bought Davies from Huddersfield, (based on increases in average earnings, this would be approximately £235,500 in 2014). Neath RFC
Neath Rugby Football Club ( cy, Clwb Rygbi Castell-Nedd) is a Welsh rugby union club which plays in the WRU Championship. The club's home ground is The Gnoll, Neath. The team is known as the All Blacks because of the team colours: black with only a white cross pattée as an emblem. Neath RFC is the oldest rugby club in Wales, having been formed in 1871. He played at representative level for Great Britain, England and Yorkshire, and at club level for Batley, Wigan and Wakefield Trinity ( Heritage No. 586) (captain), as a , or , i.e. number 8 or 10, 11 or 12, or 13, during the era of contested scrums, and coached at club level for Featherstone Rovers.
