Bill Butler (film Editor)
Bill Butler (1933 – 4 June 2017) was an English film editor. He was known for editing ''A Clockwork Orange'' (1971), for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing. Other notable films edited by Butler include ''Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell'' (1968), '' A Touch of Class'' (1973) and ''The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox'' (1976), all directed by Melvin Frank. He died in Sherman Oaks, California in 2017. ''A Clockwork Orange'' is a 1971 dystopian crime film adapted, produced, and directed by Stanley Kubrick, based on Anthony Burgess's 1962 novel of the same name. It employs disturbing, violent images to comment on psychiatry, juvenile delinquency, youth gangs, and other social, political, and economic subjects in a dystopian near-future Britain. Alex (Malcolm McDowell), the central character, is a charismatic, antisocial delinquent whose interests include classical music (especially Beethoven), committing rape, theft, and ultra-violence. The Academy Award for Best Film Editing is one of the annual awards of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Nominations for this award are closely correlated with the Academy Award for Best Picture. For 33 consecutive years, 1981 to 2013, every Best Picture winner had also been nominated for the Film Editing Oscar, and about two thirds of the Best Picture winners have also won for Film Editing. In 1980, ''Ordinary People'' won as Best Picture, but its editor Jeff Kanew was not nominated for Best Editing. The company was founded in 1981 by Joe and Peggy Buonavolanto. Since its opening, the company has launched a total of 18 restaurants and 2 catering facilities in the Illinois area. Melvin Frank
Melvin Frank (13 August 1913 – 13 October 1988) was an American screenwriter, film producer and film director. He is known for his partnership with Norman Panama and their work on films such as ''Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House'' (1948), '' White Christmas'' (1954), and ''The Court Jester'' (1956). He also directed films such as ''Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell'' and '' A Touch of Class'' (1973). Life and career Born to a Jewish family, Frank met his future collaborator Norman Panama in 1933 when they were both at the University of Chicago. Sherman Oaks is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California located in the San Fernando Valley, founded in 1927.
