Bill Bryant (golf Executive)
George William Bryant (July 24, 1914 – April 17, 1983) was an American golf executive. He was the founder of the Junior Golf Association of Southern California and Industry Hills Golf Club. Career Bryant worked as a golf executive in Southern California for more than 50 years. He started as a teenager when him and his father operated the Westward Ho golf course located in Palms, California. He later worked at Rio Hondo in Downey, California before leasing Brentwood golf course and opening it up for public play. His father died in 1947 and he took over the operation of Fox Hills. Bryant was one of the founders of the Junior Golf Association of Southern California. He started the organization in 1948 in the club house of the California Country Club (now the property of California Country Club Estates). Industry Hills Golf Club
Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms (commonly referred to as Industry Hills), is a golf club located in the City of Industry, California. It is made up of two 18-hole courses known as The Ike and The Babe. It is the location of PGA, LPGA, and Champions Tour qualifiers and hosted the 2011 Kia Classic. History Industry Hills was founded by Bill Bryant and designed by William P. Bell in 1979 and 1980. and built on top of a former landfill site. It is two 18-hole courses, one named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower (The Ike) and the other after Babe Zaharias (the Babe). The Eisenhower course opened in November 1979, and when built had eight lakes and 108 sand traps. The Zaharias course opened the following year with 52 sand traps. Palms (originally "The Palms") is a community in the Westside region of Los Angeles, California, founded in 1886 and the oldest neighborhood annexed to the city, in 1915. Brentwood is a suburban neighborhood in the Los Angeles Westside, Westside region of Los Angeles. History General Modern development began after the establishment of the Sawtelle Veterans Home, Pacific Branch of the National Home for Disabled Soldiers and Sailors in the 1880s. City of Industry is a city in the San Gabriel Valley, in eastern Los Angeles County, California, United States. The JTBC Classic Presented by Barbasol, formerly the Kia Classic, is a women's professional golf tournament in Southern California on the LPGA Tour. It debuted in 2010 at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, then moved north for a year in 2011 to the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palms in the City of Industry in Los Angeles County. The tournament returned to La Costa in 2012 and moved to Aviara Golf Club, also in Carlsbad, for 2013.
