William Berg (classicist)
William Berg, aka Bill Berg or William Berg III (August 13, 1938 – May 16, 2021), was a classicist and historian of Gearhart, Oregon. On his mother’s side he was a descendant of pioneers (the Kernses) who had migrated from Indiana to Oregon in 1852. Berg grew up in Boulder, Colorado, where his father taught Constitutional Law at the University of Colorado, and in Washington, D.C., where he witnessed the McCarthy era in the shadow of his father’s boss and mentor, Oregon Senator Wayne Morse. Education After immersion in ancient Greek under the tutelage of Anselm Strittmatter, O.S.B., he majored in Classics at Johns Hopkins University. Graduating with academic honors in 1960, he went on to earn a Ph.D. at Princeton University in 1966. Awarded a Fulbright Grant, he spent the academic year 1960-61 at the American School of Classical Studies in Greece, undergoing archaeological training through excavation at ancient Corinth. William Daniel Berg (born October 21, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey Winger who played in the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career Berg was born in St. Catharines, Ontario. Playing on both wing and defense, Berg had a minor league apprenticeship with the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League - with whom he won a Calder Cup in 1990. Berg started his National Hockey League career with the New York Islanders in 1988–89. He also played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers, and Ottawa Senators. He retired after the 1998–99 campaign. Personal In 2008, Berg began coaching high school hockey at Ridley College. Bill Berg is an American jazz and fusion drummer known for his work with the group Flim & the BB's, as well as with guitarist Wayne Johnson. Early life Berg is a native of Hibbing, Minnesota. Career Berg worked as the drummer on the Bob Dylan album ''Blood on the Tracks''. Berg has also worked with Leo Kottke, Gary Brunotte, Bill Perkins, and others. He has also worked with the Marc Yaxley Trio, a local jazz band in Transylvania County, North Carolina. William "Bill" H. Berg (1941 – October 1, 1967)https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/235870612/william-harvey-berg was a Royal Canadian Mounted police man, game outfitter and a territorial level politician from Northwest Territories, Canada. He briefly served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories from July 4, 1967, until his death on October 1, 1967. Political career and death Berg ran for a seat to the Northwest Territories Legislature in the 1967 Northwest Territories general election. He won the electoral district of Mackenzie River. Berg won the district easily over two other opponents, on election night he jumped out to a lead with over half the popular vote. The results of four polls however did not report for a number of days due to a communication blackout leaving the Mackenzie River election in doubt along with the results in two other districts.
