Bill Baird (born June 20, 1932) is a reproductive rights pioneer, called by some media the "father" of the birth control and abortion-rights movement. He was jailed eight times in five states in the 1960s for lecturing on abortion and birth control.Love and Cott, ''Feminists Who Changed America'' Baird is believed to be the first and only non-lawyer in American history with three Supreme Court victories. In 1967, hundreds of students at Boston University petitioned Baird to challenge a Massachusetts law that prohibited providing contraception to unmarried persons. On April 6, 1967, he gave a lecture at Boston University, during which he gave a condom and a package of over-the-counter contraceptive foam to a female college student. He was immediately arrested and eventually jailed. His appeal of his conviction culminated in the 1972 Supreme Court decision '' Eisenstadt v. Bill Baird (American Football)
Bill Baird (born March 1, 1939) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive back for the New York Jets of the American Football League (AFL). He played college football for the San Francisco State Gators, playing as a defensive back, halfback and kick returner. He played for the Jets from 1963 to 1969. He, Jim Hudson, Randy Beverly, and Johnny Sample completely shut down the Baltimore Colts' passing game in Super Bowl III, helping the Jets defeat what until that time had been touted as the greatest team in professional football history. Bill Baird is an American musician and creative technologist. Formerly a member of Sound Team, Baird began performing solo in 2006, first as '''' and later under his own name. He appeared in the 2010 documentary '' Echotone'', a chronicle of the Austin, Texas music scene, where he offered a negative assessment of his time signed to a major record label. He wrote an article along those lines for Impose Magazine, which turned into several more articles about the music industry. He has written a series of music and nature articles for the San Antonio Current. Bill Baird (born July 26, 1949) is an American race car driver. He currently competes in the Ultra4 Racing Series in the #5252 buggy. He is a former Rookie of the Year and champion of the ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde stock car Series, and owns Saturn Machine, a steel equipment manufacturer. Early career Baird, an Air Force veteran, originally began as a stunt pilot hobbyist before later switching to racing in 1987. After starting on dirt oval tracks, he switched to pavement racetracks and competed regularly in the American Speed Association ACDelco Challenge Series. ARCA career Baird debuted in the ARCA Bondo/Mar-Hyde Series in 1997, driving the #52 for Ken Schrader Racing with sponsorship from Saturn Machine and Spee Dee Pop Popcorn. Bil Baird
William Britton "Bil" Baird (August 15, 1904 – March 18, 1987) was an American puppeteer of the mid- and late 20th century. In a career that spanned over 60 years, he and his puppets performed for millions of adults and children. One of his better known creations was Charlemane the lion. He and his wife Cora Eisenberg Baird (1912–1967) produced and performed the famous puppetry sequence for "The Lonely Goatherd" in the film version of ''The Sound of Music''. His son Peter Baird was also a puppeteer, and he continued his family's legacy until his own death in July 2004. He wrote ''The Art of the Puppet'' (1965) and provided the puppets for ''Dark Shadows''.
