: ''See Bilgi for disambiguation'' Bilagi is a panchayat town and taluka in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka, India. It is located at a distance of 30 km from the district headquarters of Bagalkote. The main occupation of people in this taluka is agriculture. Most of the farmers grow sugarcane. History To the north of Bilgi is a stone pond called Arettina Bavi ('six-bullock well'), an object of interest. The temple inside the well of Mahadeva, is not worshipped as the linga is broken. The stone inscriptions in Kannada and Persian built into the walls of the well register that it was constructed by Visajipanta in 1708. There is a dargah of Hasan Dongri, in the town. Moharam festival is celebrated in a big way here. One Km to the south of Bilgi is the temple of Shri Siddeshwara, encompassed by hillocks. On a footstep of the temple is an inscription of 1695–96 which records construction of the eastern doorway by Khanderao Timmaji, a subordinate of Vajir Haidar Khan. The ... Mudhol
Mudhol is a city previously known as "'Muduvolalu"' in the Bagalkote District in the northern part of the South Indian state of Karnataka. It is about from the district headquarters of Bagalkot and from subdivision of Jamakhandi. It is famous for a breed of dog known as the Mudhol Hound, and for its wrestling tradition. Mudhol State was ruled by the Ghorpade-Maratha royal family. History The Principality of Mudhol ruled by the Ghorpade dynasty of the Marathas, was one of the 9-gun princely states of British India, under the summit of Niranjan. The state measured 368 square miles (508 km²) in area. According to the 1901 census, the population was 63,001, with the population of the town itself at 8,359 in that year. National Highway 52 (NH 52), Sangrur, Punjab to Ankola, Karnataka, is a National Highway in India. The national highway 52 was numbered after amalgamating many existing national highways of India. The old highway numbered NH-63 was from Ankola in Karnataka state to Gooty in Andhra pradesh state. The highway 52 starts at the junction of National Highway 66 (old number NH-17) at Ankola and moves up to Arebail ghat of Western ghats and then to Yellapura and further to Hubballi (Hubli) city. Some stretch of old national highway 13 from Vijayapura ( old name Bijapur) to Solapur was joined with NH-52. Lorries coming Hubballi city to Karwar sea port and New Mangalore sea port ( NMPT) use this highway.The road stretch from Ankola to Yellapura is through forests of Western ghats of India.
